Strange one this, My air con stopped working about 2 weeks ago, car has just turned 10 years old, I presume she needs to be regassed.

Anyway even with 10degrees set on, the dial hot air seems to come from vents to windscreen.

This hottish air is fogging the windscreen making it impossible to see until I turn on air con full and 40 degrees on screen and drive with both windows down.(too cold this time of year)

I presume whats happening is petrol fumes are being sent to windscreen.

There is a slight smell but nothing much.

Whats the solution? Re-gas the cylinders and hope the lower temp air prevents fumes from vapourising or go through fuel line fuel pressure dampner, FPR and find if I have a leak, again no real smell of petrol??

Thanks

Roy

What do you use to clean the inside of the screen ?

I once used normal house hold window cleaner and my screen misted up all the time, Ranx do a cleaner for the inside of the screen.

if youve got enough petrol coming in the car to condense on the screen, id stop driving now!!!

its more likely to be water though, either just out of the air as its damp at the moment, or from a leaky heater matrix - are you loosing any coolant??

if you get water leaks in the car (either coolant from the cooling sys or rain from outside) it will keep forming as condensation on the screen.

you may very well need the AC regassing tho, which would obviously help clear the screen :)

Coolant leaks in the matrix would be my first thought - this has happended to me in a previous car (Renault) - the blower would struggle to clear the screen and a strong smel in the car.

'Fraid to say chum you may have sprung a leak.

I've just had mine re-gassed and has started to do the same. I'll check the matrix to see if there's any leaks.

Does anyone have a pic of where the heater matrix is located and is it the driver or passenger footwell that wets up?

Where do the leaks usually come from is it the rad itself?

Check the carpet in the corners next to the kick plates either side ;) Usually the targa drain hoses become disconnected and dump water in the footwell.... Mine is doing this at the moment and is a real pita for fogging :(

I had this on my VW, matrix is a common fault & the windsceen mists up!

Several members have changed them. 300zx.org.uk or TT net I think give you the gen on how to do it.Or do a search!

With my VW I took all the dash & heater controls out as the matrix is in the car under the dash at the bulk head.

Good look I found it a PITA!
