hi all, when my cars idling the drivers side exhaust note is real fluttery, kinda a flat note, but the other side is a nice deep note, as soon as you press the throttle it changes so there both the same note, this is starting to anoy me as when my turbo timer works and im walking away i can hear it very clearly,

 

any thoughts as to what this could be or what i could adjust??????

 

91 tt auto. straight through system (no cats) only back boxes.

hi andy, Ive removed the Aiv's mate but still I get that anoying flat note, do you have to disconnet battery after removing the AIV's?

 

And what else could be causing this now?

Is it a good idea to remove them?

I've got a single exit HKS super drager, it makes

all kinds of weird noises, would removing the aiv's

yes, sure do

I have no balance bar, did cross my mind and thought of maybe having one added???

My passenger side one sort of chuffs a bit. Is this the same noise? Mongoose exhaust, AIV's removed and no balance bar.

yer mate it sounds like that, sort of pufffing/flat note, drivers side sounds great!

 

it seems alot of us have this problem, surely some one must know the cause or cure??

Well I didn't and it seems fine still.

i noticed a similar thing but when i checked the back boxes one was cmopletly baffleless and the other was newish and of course most of the gas was coming out of the empty box causing a different sound on one side dunno what effect it has on engine though if any
