Am needing to replace my clutch shortly on 92 UK TT. Wondering whether to upgrade from standard and what to go for? Should i also replace the flywheel with a lightened one? Am looking to do some minor mods ie intake, boost jets, zorst so presumed upgrade the best option but which one?

You guys and girls prob have numerous different types so all replies and recommendations will be greatly appreciated ( especially links to sites where i can find them at stupidly low prices ha ha i wish)

But remember it does affect daily driveability. A higher-rated clutch needs to be tighter by definition - which means it's harder to creep on, and is less forgiving of a difference between road speed and gearbox speed. ie no lazy changing!

If you sit in traffic for 20 minutes every day commuting an RPS Street WILL piss you off.

That said the difference when you're booting it is fantastic. It feels like a proper racing machine.

i strongly (note the bold text!) disagree on this statement!

iv got a RPS street clutch from the smithmeister & it was a lot lighter than my old knackered stock one!! remember the Z has a servo assisted clutch.

very good feel from this clutch IMO

My clutch is very light and progressive at the mo.

Jeff at Zworld said when he drove it, "its the best clutch i have come across in a Z yet" or something along those lines but when it comes out he wants to know whats in it and so do i. Only problem is i need to get another B4 it comes out so only hope that new one is as good. According to all the history i have which is from new the clutch has never been changed, 86000 ? and no clutch change ahrd to believe but could be right.

Well if you want an RPS matey am yer man, however keeping them in stock is not easy so allow about 9 days for delivery if you decide to go down this route.

Just email me if interested

cheers

nothing compared to an HKS triple plate! But absolutly no slip regardless of how much power I lay down

LOL, mine does tecnically, but the vacuum pipe which goes to the balance tube has been disconnected for the moment, since the diaphram has split! Thus causing a vacuum leak, and nice loud hissing noise.

Cor, OK. :x:

Have to see what it's like when it goes on the new Z! Maybe the assist was on the way out on the old one. In fact, that wouldn't surprise me in the least.

What bonus will fitting another flywheel give me? and is it really worth the extra?. Seems you r the man smithy so if i need one ill be giving you a call

Lite flywheel means she flys mate, lol seriously the less weight means the engine can rev far quicker than stock and improves the acceleration no end. Just a worthwhile mod when doing the clutch. You really should Skim the stock flywheel if keeping it when changing the clutch anyways, though many don't.

And it improves shift times no end. I'm amazed how heavy the stock flywheel is! Have to change gear in slow motion!

Whereas with the ol' Fidanza on there, it's just snick-snick-snick and away we go...

with a lightened flywheel though - dont you lose torque?

Never noticed any loss of torque in me own, in fact torquey is some she always was, when shes running :-(

NO!! if anything you will gain some as there is less mass

I found the same too. Unless your standard clutch is very light, which if it has covered a lot of miles it won't be, the RPS Street Racer should suit you fine. Yes, if you get stuck in traffic it will do your head in a bit but unless you live on the M25 or North Circular, you should be ok.

I've had mine on now for nearly a year and done about 20k on it and it still feels like new. Some friends who have driven mine say that the clutch is the best that they have ever used. Crisp, precise and consistant!

I got mine from the states, but if I was to get one again, I would use Smithy.

Happy hunting.
