japspec rear fogs coversion,,,,,,,,

Hi Guys, first and formost great job on the new Website looks amazing, nice.

Okay heres my question - does anyone know a neat way (inside and outsideof the car) of adding rear fog lights to Jap imported Zeds?

The Guys who imported my SWB have just stuck a small switch under the dash and rewired so it now activates the nearside rear brake light, to get it through the MOT/UK requirements. As well as just not being too pretty (the switch doesnt fit properly, and falls out when its knocked by my knee) I also get an annoying brakelight out warning whenever I touch the brakes.

My console has a switch blanking plate on the right hand side of the steering column. and I was wondering if it would be possible to find whichever switch in UK spec cars fits here and wire that up instead, which would atleast get rid of the switch problem.

Be great to hear from anyone who has tackled a similar problem in a Jap import and come up with a nice solution or just any advice generally

Thanks Chaps

As far as the wireing is concerned, you'll have to trace out how the importers have wired up the fog lamp, cus it shouldnt do that with you brake light warning light. Re-wireing the inner brake lights, to give fogs is a common mod, and there use to be a wireing diagram, but I cant find the link at the mo, mabe someone else can help with that.

You could contact one of the tradres in the traders section for a UK spec fog light switch, try AndyZ

Hope that helps,

Dave

Yep was going to suggest that.

The guys that did your car haven't put the relay in so you will get a warning because either the stop and tail sensor has a drop in current or one of your brake lights is out (supposedly the latter as the guys stoped the brake light and used it as a fog instead).

I had the switch fitted just to the right of the clock and the inside lamps converted as described above - works fine, even looks good in fog and there's plently of breaklight left over for, er, braking!

When I got mine, it had a UK spec rear put on, then had a switch wired into the dash.

Looks spot on.
