Fellow JWT'ers. If I have stock gauges and the JWT/POP upgrade should I avoid full boost for prolonged times? What other cautions should I take? This is my only transport at the moment so I don't want to feck it!!!

The stage depends on who you talk too. I use the www.sgpracing.com stage list myself.

 

You don't have to avoid full boost if your car is performing correctly, not overboosting and not detinating.

 

A good thing to check is the timing. It should be around 15deg. Higher deg can cause detination, less (like 13-14) causes less power in general!

 

After the install drive in 4th/5th at 3000 revs up a slight incline (50% throttle), that causes a heavy load and will help to identify any detination. Beacuse, you may be thrown into saftey boost mode... 6psi until you turn the engine off/on.

Would deffinatly think about gettin that Aftermarket boost guage. As Jez pointed out Boost Jets can cause different levels per vehicle, also Outside Temp / Altitude will also effect the setup to some degree.

 

Your current Stage is probably around 3- / 2+ on the SGP scales as you still have the stock Nissan Intake.

 

If you dont have one already, Blitz do a Turbo Timer with a Boost guage built in, that also measures 0-60 times and all sortsa shit, don't know how accurate the guage is , but Grasshopper can do ya a good price on one, and the turbo timer is always a good idea, less you wanna end up in Nico Turbo territory :o((.

 

Watch for Safety boost after trying what Jez reccommended and keep an ear out for detnonation,especially if youve been out on a long WOT run. Best avoid turning that New Steps CD up too loud for a while ;o) LOL.
