Front seat repair on a 2+2

I'm sure my car can't be the only one with a wobbly driver's seat - then again, not everyone uses the back seat everyday like I have to! But I definitely have a screw loose somewhere, so I'm off to try to take it out for a look at today.

Any helpful advice always welcome!

Hi Nigel,

I would also be interested if any of you guys have any advice as my drivers seat is a tad loose aswell.

Cheers,

Justin

Hi Nigel,

My drivers seat went wobbly last week. The front left of the squab cushion (the bit you sit on!) was moving up and down, worse when you leant back in the seat. Turned out to be the linkage for the up and down adjustment (manual seat) had broken away from the cross-shaft on the side nearest centre of car. It seems it was just tack welded in two places but it now has a more substantial bead of weld on it. So far so good. Just be careful you don't set fire to the upholstery!

Mine was a little wobbly and if IIRC it was a nut come loose in the runner attached to the floor. A bit fiddley to get to but no real problem.

Well I got the seat out ok and found a spring losse for the tip forward clip, which I fixed. But there';s still loads of play in the connection between the runners and the seat, which I just couldn't get to, without first removing my (extremely expensive) custom leather uphostery! So I gave up and put the damn thing back in.

So anyone who knows how to do this properly - you need to post on here please!
