Just got a letter from Telematix, the company that is suposedly tracking my car 24/7, which states that they're in "voluntary receivership". My first thought ... oh shit, I hope their service is taken over by someone else 'coz with all these carjackings going on in B'ham I'm crapping myself everytime I drive through the rough neighbourhoods. So I decide to call their customer services: no answer, just keeps ringing. Next stop, sales dept: no answer, finally dialled the theft hotline (which you're meant to ring when your car's nicked) and to my astonishment there is no answer either! At this point I need to change my pants ... I paid the installer £500 for the equipment and installation and paid Telematix £160 for a year's worth of proactive monitoring. Seemingly all gone up in smoke! I'm well pissed off at the moment. I phoned the installer and he wasn't even aware that Telematix had gone into receivership ... and he's an official distributor of their stuff. It's all too much to believe, they are supposedly this big company providing truck companies and lease companies fleet tracking services all accross the UK and Europe. Not as if it was a one-man-band. I'm going to phone the Office of Fair Trading now to see if they know anything about this and if not I'm reporting them for breach of contract/duty. In the meantime I hope my insurance company doesn't find out about the fact that I'm not covered by a tracking device.
Man, life really is shite at the moment.
Z-ya later!
