Do I have boost jets??

Hi guys, Eariler today I fitted an additional boost gauge to prepare for this months mods, fitting went well and was a nice easy job.

However, i got a bit confused when I took it for a wee spin.

Boost seems higher than it should be according to this boost gauge, standard boost I believe is 9.5psi, but with pedal on the boards this gauge reads that its boosting 10, sometimes slightly more (but I put this down to boost spiking).

So im thinking, pah, crappy boost gauge (£70 one), not even accurate, so I took it back and got an apparently more accutarate one (another £40 on top of the other), and guess what, that sits at 10psi too?!?

Boost jets anyone think?

Cheers

Dan

doubt it TBH, if it was gonna have boost jets then you would (hopefully) see more than a 0.5 psi boost increase! most are set from 12-16 psi

probably more like the wastegate actuators have got a little weak & are opening a little later

ok, well a few minutes after I posted my brain kicked into gear and told me "YOU DUMB ASS, YOU HAVE ZAUST AND INTAKE UPGRADES REMEMBER!!"

*slaps forehead*

so im assuming thats where this extra psi or so is coming from :D

sorry for the dumb post :D

and you could always have a look under the bonnet for a couple of hoses (probably around 3/4 inch diameter) dangling of the turbo hoses with a valve sat on each!

Most valve boost upgrades are a little 'makeshft' so the bits may even stand out as obviously not on the car when it was supplied (like mine was!)

yup, that explains it then, your statement and my brain coming online :) thanks guys

zorst and intake make 10.5psi according to Stillen chart
