Andy seems you are sending out mails from andy@300zx.org.uk with the MYDOOM virus on (Arrived this morning and of course I opened) cheers bud it sent mails on to all my customers with the Virus on. :confused: :( :(

Ryan, what do the headers saY? it is not necesarily from 300zx.org.uk, this virus changes the reply to address so you may not always be sure where its from

Our company has had about 400 E-Mail's today from the 'unclean'

Mike the message said HI and it was from andy@300zx.org.uk Norton anti virus does not pick this up although Stinger did pretty quick

Baggins, am getting a few of these each day "HI" "TEST" "unable to deliver" are the most common titles, at the mo am just deleating all mails with this in subject box, this was reported on news the other day, comes in as 1, goes out as 30 mails to peeps in yer address book.

I already said it was MYDOOM :rolleyes: It was more to let Andy know than anything else , oh and enybody else that has had a mail from 300 org

Yep its mydoom. There's going to be a whole lot more of these this year. So make sure you follow the following:

1, Dont open unsolicted emails.

2, keep your anti virus software up to date.

3, use a personal firewall if you dont have a hardware one, there are several free ones available.

4, Always update your windows o/s.

 

P.S. Most virus types these days spoof the from email address. So any Mail admin types out there that have their gateways set to fire off a reply saying,"You have a virus" Please switch them off, its worse than spam. :p

Of course I'm not - the source is spoofed ! It means that someone who has that email address in their address book has been infected and the virus is using my address as the spoofed originating address. Delete and ignore (plus keep your AV s/w up to date!)

I suppose it depends as well as to how used to opening dodgy attachments you are. :D

Seriously, if you look in the headers of the E-Mail, can you see it originating from 62.149.33.134, this is the only MX Record for 300zx.org.uk, I'm assuming he send them from this IP address.

 

You can find the headers, in Outlook, by looking at View - Options from the View menu of the open E-Mail.
