Standard parking manoeuvre, then, Mike? ;)

Sorry matey .. someone had to say it .. LOL .. guess I deserve a :slap:

CheerZ,

JB.

;) you know it,

have you got traction control fitted CJ? how does traction control with this weather? I guess it can't stop you sliding from a non wheel spin slide.

Er, traction control - that would be a right foot for all of us who haven't yet taken out shares in Racelogic!

I followed a Porsche Carrera for a few miles tonight - he was all over the place with his 335 rear tyres! (or whatever size they were!). Gentle throttle and a little bit of reverse lock saw me passed him on one of the slippier sections.

If I'd been doing a little more than 10 mph I would have posted it in Road Kills!

yep ive got racelogic but its not set up quite right and still allows some slip - probably wouldnt have helped anyway, the back wheels were just sliding down the camber of the road - sideways driving at 2 mph wtf.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Mike you know what happened last time you did thatBANGpoor Mr F:D;)

TCS is to help cornering and to stop you overcooking it at the limits on the road... it's bugger all help in the snow! In fact it's probably a hinderance because it might cut power just when you're not expecting it - at least if you're the only device in control you're expecting the unexpected! Had it switched off in the daily driver most of the time on Wednesday and I found it much easier to deal with on particularly slippy bits. The manual specifically sez switch it off in snow.

Nigel, try using your left foot as well as your right. ;) Oh no, wait, ANOTHER disadvantage of autos... :D

In Zeez Conditions tiz goot to vare das Alpine unt booten yar. Zen ve hev nine sliperzy schlidunt int zee Z

Traction control is good for pulling off, but I was so light on the clutch that it only came on when I was testing out what the TC was like. I actually found besides when pulling off, TC does not make things better when cornering in the snow. I actually turned it off as when I felt the back start to slide I would opposite lock to compensate and get it under control.

With the TC the back would start to kick out and then would cut in sometimes stopping the spin or sometimes making it worse. The worse thing you can do when the rear starts to kick out is let off the power compeletely.
