Ok, i hve managed to get off al the bolts at the front of he alternator (By removing the rad). The belt is a little bit less tense but not enough to pull it off.

How the hell do you undo the bolt at the back of the alternator? I can barely touch it, nevermind getting a wrench or socket in there!

Am i missing something really blunt here, oris this job a total git?

Any suggestions would be great, as id like to get it done tomorrow,if not i will have to book it in to a garage

Cheers

Mike,

You dont need to touch the nut on the back. if you just undo the bolt at the front, the nut has a tab on it which holds it in place, also useful when your refitting, the only trouble i had was getting the alternator out from between the anti roll bar, but after turning and testing and turning and testing, it eventually came out, took me about half an hour

Just thought i'd add, i did the whole job from underneath the car, on axle stands, obviously, without removing the rad

Chopper,

Glad to be of assistance to someone else, for a change, hope all is working accordingley

Anyone got a picture of this nut that is supposed to be at the backside of the alternator ??? Think I lost mine when I swaped alternator ...

Can anyone recall what size the bolt on the backside of the alternator is?

I had mine out and it took me a while to get it threaded back on.

It was tricky and took a couple of hours of fiddling from underneath the car.

If youve got sausage fingers you'll never do it :p

Its a 5" long bolt that goes through from the front to the back with a nut on the back. If nut missing then best to remove bolt and match it up with a nut and large washer.
