I haven't had my Z long (N/A jap).

Today it wouldn't start at first.

After a while I got it going by turing it over and giving it some accelerator at the same time.

Before it just fired up fine with no pedals needed.

Is this anything to worry about?

Cheers

Craig Sounds like it was flooded to me,

beamer 2

sometimes helps if you push the throttle to the floor as you start her up, contrary to what you might think this puts more air into the mix, so beamer sounds right it was probably flooded..

LMFAO

You shouldn't have to do any of this, you're car is not right bud!

Never had any trouble starting mine even when I first got it and it was running on 5 cyls with phuket heads.

Get it seen to!

Z's are good starters when healthy, mine starts on the flick of the key and that's every couple of months! LOL

Sometimes if they have been standing for a while you might have issues but if it's "flooding" something is defo not right!

i wasnt saying it was right, was pointing out that the problem could have been it was flooded, i had a similar problem a few weeks back wouldnt start after i had been out in it and was stood for a few hours, mr AA man came out couldnt start it at first, took the plugs out warmed em up with a blow torch put them back and fired up ok. Been ok since...... no reason??????

Check the compression mate.

the aa man checked it and it was fine, just one of those things, its been fine since, i dont know if the fact i still had a standard air filter on with the decat pipes then but since then ive got the blitz induction kit on now, will keep an eye on it, it was running a little rough at times before the aa bloke looked at it but no probs since?

Check all the electric bits! Coil pack connectors for green corrosion sh1te etc.

Throttle position sensor connector.

All those gremlins that can cause grief, anything electrical connected to the main wiring loom, could be suspect! Especially broken coil pack connectors, I had my entire wiring loom replaced after muchos expense so that is the key in a lot of these situations!

thanx for the info guys

I did have a loose connection and a bit of crap on the connectors ,since cleaning them and removal to clean the plugs things have been ok,

probably was the connectors that caused all this in the first place..

thanx again for the info.

Funny how you learn more when things go wrong.
