Hi all,
I know the topic of flares has been touched on before (I think it was JeffTT ...) but I thought I'd share this news with you as it is quite important. I had a flare stuck under the passenger side dash and decided to get rid of it (propperly). First of all the things are illegal on the roads in the UK and besides that mine was about 8 years out of date ... I took it to my local police station and casually asked where I could get rid of the thing. I was then promptly escorted to a private room where I was asked a bunch of questions regarding where I got it from, where I bought the car, etc. To cut a long story short, an officer specialised in explosives came with me to my car and took the thing out to be properly disposed of. Needless to say that the cops were not best pleased to find someone with a flare in their car, let alone an out of date one! I got off lightly (aparently) but there is potential for charges of carrying an illegal explosive (yeah ... this is what I was told this morning ...)
SO - for all of you who have a flare in the car please get rid of it properly. You don't want something as trivial as a flare to cause you countless headaches.
Just thought you ought to know.
Cheers!
Danny
