Not that I am thinking of getting rid of my beloved Zed in the short term, but I was looking in Autotrader to try and gauge its current value. The prices seems to vary wildly for similar age/spec etc.

Whats your best guess on value at present?

 

My insurance is due this month (plus some Bridgestone S02's or 3's are needed ..) so an idea would help.

About 5-6k? Depending on condition of the bodywork.. It's reasonable mileage, which drops the value a little, but a UK manual - which are rare and quite sought after..

 

If you put it up for 8k I'm sure you'd find someone who'd buy it..

but honestly 300zx's design started at 1990 and that's what'll pull your price down, it'll be hard to find a party to pay the blue book value on the car, but in america i think you could probably find a buyer for about 8-9k fairly easy without too much problems, 11 will be hard to pull.
