I'm getting steam coming from the area by the brake master cylinder - does anyone know what little buggers of water pipes are in that area? And what type of job is it to get at them?

I can hear the pressure escaping but its too dark yet to see whats down there as I havent got my torch!

Thanks.

Nar, its water steam. I think its a turbo coolant pipe thats sprung a leak.

First pipes to check would be the two matrix hoses at the back of the engine & bulkhead. These maybe in the wrong area but are the easy ones to see!

After that looking further down at turbo hoses or back of engine.

These are a mix of metal & rubber hoses.

Other thing if you cannot see it when engine running & hot you will need a compression test on water system.

Hope it helps

I've just replaced one of my pipes and it wasn't too difficult. The hardest bit was seeing where the leak was. I managed to see it by repeated use of a compression tester, putting a small bulb down below the brake master (hopefully the water doesnt squirt onto buld...), and removing some of the wires etc that go across that side of engine.

I found the 'S' shaped pipe split on mine, just ot the left of large air (I think) pipe that goes into turbos from front of engine bay. I didnt have to remove too much to replace it really......

It turned out not to be at the back of the engine in the end - it was a split pipe at the front by the throttle body - it was running down the engine and dripping off the back, hence the steam......Phil at C&S Wood sorted it out for me.

Aha it was YOUR car!

Could have been worse... mine's leaving C&S on a low-loader.
