Man get it rebuilt for under half of that?

any idea where from?

really want this do asap as the motor is just sitting there for the last week

What did they say was wrong with it first??? Last time a main dealer quoted a new engine it was a faulty rad cap - SERIOUSLY!!!!

Seized engine. Apparently the rad had no water in it...total bollocks.

But broken down two weeks ago overheating.Checked all fluids last week and all okay, engine sounds like a tractor at the mo.

so to sum up, seized engine!!

Er.. Surely if it runs, it isn't siezed??

Head gasket(s) perhaps, if it overheated..

New HG's, heads skimmed/new heads.. Easy job (ish!)

well true, but they said part of it was seized. I dont believe them for a minute as i have had to move the car on and off the drive.

Any one know of a good place to get this sorted in the cambridgeshire area. I was given a name by stuart davies but have lost the number.

Any ifo would be great and can also possibly take the car on a trailer to get looked at

try john at hilton service statoin i use them a lot ex nissan workers 01480 831144 mention tony with the yellow 300 he will sort you out. he also has one red uk 300

Take it somewhere else for another opinion. If it starts it is not seized. It's possible it's seized in the past and needs reboring but it ain't seized if it runs.

A compression test will tell you if the bores are knackered through a previous seize and won't cost a fortune.

nice one guys. Will call hilton garage. My main concern is why the f*** nissan are trying to pull a fast one..apart from being greedy bastards.

So if the car turns over and can be physically driven of the drive and back on the engine is not seized?

The Nissan main dealers are not trying to pull a fast one... Its just that they are Shite...

Paul

Sorry but I am still laughing from them saying partt of the engine has seized smile.gif It's all connected together FFS!!! Check the compression - piece of piss apart from the back two cylinders (you need to remove the balance bar). This will show any bore damage. When you say it sounds like a tractor that could be bad - as in the bottom end has gone..... Still, it doesn't mean that much work...... Another garage I would definitely use is Hiteq in Wigan. They are in the contacts section I think - otherwise http://www.hiteq.co.uk

CheerZ,

Andy

okay car sounded like a tractor when i broke down, since then i have started the car several times and it sounds okay but only a slight pinking...nothing i would be to worried about.

The car doesnt rattle or knock when started, but it has cracked the housing on the rad at the top when it overheated by the looks of things.

As i am in peterborough i will give the guys in hilton a call as it is only 30-40 mins from me. So how do i check the compression...balance bar?

Might not get to it mate but looked at an engine in a breakers last week in Birmingham for £650 complete also saw 4 dead zeds in Daventry (Northants) breakers all with engines in.

Jeff TT

no will get the car there on a recovery vehicle.where in daventry was this breakers as i go past daventry on my way to work in leamington spa.

No the one near weedon next to the garage is it?

If you mean the one on the A45 (I think) close to an Island then yes well no erh they have another yard at Watford 15 mins away thats where the zeds are.

Their phone number is 01327 310511 www.interpart.com

Jeff TT

Sorry mate misspelt the web link

www.intapart.com

Jeff TT

Is it next to the garage and opposite the just tyres place on the weedon road?

So, the car starts, no severe noises, just a little pinking? That engine does NOT need rebuilding!!! Could have a slight timing error but doesn't sound too drastic. Would have to actually hear it to go further but don't take nissan up on their offer to take away your hard earned cash...

This just highlights how much main dealers know about these cars...... diddle squat (to put it nicely wink.gif)

Check the coolant level, check the oil etc then take it for a short run and watch the guages.... any funny stuff then stop the car immediately...

CheerZ,

Andy

would love to mate, but not really driveable, dont want to do anymore damage if you know what i mean...cheers anyway

andyduff.

i think i may have some damage as the car broken down on me.overheating.but since i have turned it over and it sounds okayish, but not 100%. slight pinking as i said but will get it checked over at hilton and not nissan..or sould we call them shit-on!

This sounds like my kinda post...LMFAO!

I had the same thing mate, my car was with a Nelson Mandela who diagnosed a Phuket engine!!! You got quoted goog though for a new lump 4K I was quoted 4.5K!!!

I looked at all the options, new engine from Nissan, recon. at anywhere from 1500-2.5K with or without blowers. In the end opted to let SE-Nissan in Essex pick the car up and re-evaluate. Turned out that Nissan were laying it on well thick in the "yer engine is fucked completely" department.

Mine is nearly finished, just needed some top end work on the heads etc.

Main dealers don't really wanna know when you've got a problem. My car sat at this particular dealer for a few months and to be honest they didn't really take any interest! Just kept fobbing me off, unitl I said pull the engine = 850 + VAT so then they were more than interested! Tell you that your unit is west then drop you for a cool 4K then still sting you another 850 + VAT to sling the new lump back in. They're onto a winner, you're out of pocket for the next 10 years!

Do what the rest have said, what I did, get a second opinion...asap!

Tim

;-)

Let me know how you get on, mine overheated on Monday night. I'm gonna have a look at it this weekend....hope it's not the head gasket as I couldn't see owt dripping underneath....

guess their might be a trend happening here perhaps? Anyone else for a nice warm engine?

Johnny, got the Diablo yet?

how did you knwo it overheated temerature guage or water under car ?

cause i founf if you just lostent he radiater cap and put it on again it solves the problem

In relation to Nissan dealers being SH#T I dropped my T.T into a main dealer to have the fan belt changed, fan belt was incorrectly tightened (as in not at all) car overheated, and I had to get a new engine....
