Hi this is my first time posting a question. I did a search for my problem but the sequence in which my problem happened is a little different.

(I'm sorry for the long post but this is a puzzling issue)

I have a 92 TT 5spd and I had purchased a SGP racing under drive pulley w/ belts and had them installed. In trying to install the new crank pulley the A/C pulley was very hard to get off and had to be heated to get off. Point is the new under drive pulley was put on and the A/C pulley was left off, (obviously I need a new one). A new alternator belt was put on and so was the power steer belt. Ok so the car was in a garage for a day and then when I picked it up it idled fine, but when you pressed the throttle it hesitated, as if it wasn't getting enough fuel. It did it 2 more times and then cleared up. Drove the car around town fine, then that night I went to start it warm up and pulled away from house. It then stalled completely and I have not been able to start it for 2 days (still freezing temps here)!! It is very cold here in NJ, USA. (In the 10-20s Fahrenheit)

Is it ice condensation in the fuel system? I put water remover and fuel antifreeze in the tank with 1/4 tank full of fuel, and still no start. Starter turns engine over and you can hear the fuel pump buzz on when you turn the key once, but no fire no start. Can anyone help me with my puzzling issue? (Again sorry for the long post, but I wanted to explain how this started)

Thanks everyone!

I replaced the fuel filter (the old one had a lot of black soot in it) the temperatures have warmed a bit, and it's being looked at. This is the first winter the car has seen, I'm hoping it's just a dirty fuel tank. Thanks for your help!

Do you really need fuel deicer? I though fuel only froze at -20ºC or something.

Well it was a good idea to replace the fuel filter since the one I replaced had dark soot like substance coming out along with excess fuel. I don't know when the last time the filter was replaced. It started up, but as for the on and off stuttering and wanting to stall, it turned out to be a crank angle sensor. It was the connection to the sensor, you could actually move the connection and it would go hay wire. So the connection was fixed and all is well. It's amazing how a loose sensor can set off a Z and give it palpitations.
