After doin' cash, cold dinners & skinned knuckles on the car since Billing.

Getting DVLA to fax my licence details to Trax officials, (got the ok without a licence presant)

Having parts made specialy for sunday & losing sleep with anticipation,

It failed the mot today, frothing at the edges & words im lost.

The tester was very fair in my poinion though. And very aware of the Z32.

Two major fails were;

CO2 & rear dampers.

He sais it has been de-cated to get a CO level that high, (all other readouts were spot on) He could only think of this as all the bad things to look for are as good as new.

And maybe ecu change or alteration ?

Perhaps somone here could tell me what alterations to look for. (it was owned by a MK Performance ctr) Gone bust unfortunatly.

Any tips or links would be greatfully received.

The rear n/s damper is knackerd, he even showed me (how kind i thought:-(

Any one upgraded, & got a pair going spare?

Started it up in AM it wasn't right & showed code 12 on diognostic, fixed that cheers andy a Stella I beleve.

But I am going to Trax, anybody going through or near MK who could give a bloke a lift PLEASE. Otherwise im in a 205 automatic????? BO HO.

See you all on sunday

a very dejected harve :-(

If your car is an import it should be CO2 tested for a car without a Cat. If it's UK then you're screwed unless you can find a friendly station.

My N/S rear shocker also failed so I changed both. Not such a hard job. Getting the internal trims off and on takes most time. Nissan want around £100 each plus vat for stock Tokico ones with the soft hard adjustments. You take the gizmos off the old ones.

I might still have the other one in the garage but its done 110k so it aint got long left in it.

I'm surprised you didnt notice how bad the handling had got plus the kick and bump steer at the back over manhole covers and the like.

Incidentally fronts lasted till 80K.

Miles that is

Willie

Hi Willie,

It did bump around a bit I havent used it much since a 4 wheel laser check, so I thought it was that!

Was that uk nissan or us mate?

cheers

Harve,

It's it's a UK car before 1992 higher co2 is allowed. To get the Co2 lower at the test it's better to get the car hot and make sure it's not standing around for a while before the MOT, depends how high the Co2 is.

Also, I assume your O2 sesnros are okay, have you done the o2 test, a faulty sensor will get the fueling and emissions wrong.

Maybe we can make one good car from all of them!

If you get the shock fixed, do you really need your MOT to go on the track???? 8)

Harve,

There is a vac hose trick you can pull to lower CO to almost zero (even without cats) - basically, pull off one of the vac hoses on the balance tube (I forget if it's a specific one or not.. Can't find the link now frown.gif )..

As for the damper... Feck frown.gif

Damn Paul you beat me to it with the link

I'd recommend pulling the hose off the boost solenoid (it's practically hidden) or AIV solenoid (also practically hidden) rather than off the balance tube, which looks a bit obvious..

Hi,

My de-catted 1990 NA passed the emissions with flying colours! They did almost lose their probe up the exhausts though! He He! wink.gif

Harve

Mine was a UK and shock prices were UK retail. I had a friend who worked for a dealer and got parts at trade 35% off but US retail prices are about the same as ours but in numbers of dollars. So already 33% off! You can get aftermarket stuff but it costs more. 5 settings etc etc but in my experience anything but the softest is too hard for comfortable road use - maybe OK for track though. You can turn the stock rear shocks hard by a simple procedure widely debated here already! As I understand it all TTs have the soft hard adjustable rear shocks - UK or import.

Willie

Sorry, imports don't have the adjustable shocks fitted. Only UK/US models (Not sure about Aus/NZ etc).
