I know it's my own bloody fault but........
A couple of weeks before xmas, I had some work done on the car and had all the rear wheel studs replaced as a couple were broken. When the mechanic did them he found that two of the wheel nuts were missing also. I ordered new ones from Nissan, only to find they were too fat to fit into the holes in my alloys. I spent ages trying to find some to fit, and finally Mike Feeney at MJP came up with the goods!:)
Unfortunately my mechanic didn't have time to fit them before Xmas, but said it would probebly be OK on three studs one side as long as I didn't go hooning around.
Had to go to my mum's in Essex for Xmas, and risked it.......
Going over was fine, but coming back I hit some traffic on the M25, and as I was doing about 20mph....BANG, wobble wobble wobble.
Two of the three studs had snapped and the third was mangled, the wheel hanging off at an odd angle. The disc had scored some grooves on the inside of the rim:eek:
After waiting 2.5 HOURS on a freezing M25 waiting for the flatbed, some monkey turned up who wanted to drag my car onto his truck. He openly admitted that he couldn't be arsed to to the job properly (he didn't have a skate or anything) I managed to convince him that he would DIE if any further damage occurred and I have complained to the RAC!
Anyway, I got the car delivered to the mechanic who has now replaced all the studs and nuts. Problem is, it right put the wind up me and I've lost a bit of me bottle. What I'd like to know is......now that it's all back together and I don't have any scraping noises from the back, is it likely to have done any further damage to the assembly that is not obviously in sight? If it went back together OK, does that mean it is OK?  :(
