I got a quote for engine reboring.

 

They said £100 +VAT.

 

Does that sound right?

 

I was expecting a lot more.

But what does engine reboring do, what do you have to do it?

Im taking my plenum off (no funny jokes) so can it be done easier with that off. Any special machinery needed.

reboring is only ness if your replacing your pistons with oversize ones.

not ness unless you want big power (IMO)

 

a little overkill for most applications, but it is a nice precaution if you can afford it i suppose.

You need to take a little more off than your plenum Fas, Both the heads will need to come off as well to get to the block.

 

Just out of interest, why are you having your plenum removed ?. 555cc's ? Polished plenum ? Head work ? water pipes ?

I think i mentioned it to you when u came down to the garage.

Im gonna be dropping it off to preston so i can get the plenum polished and get those darn water pipes done as they keep bursting on me. Also im gonna get the normal 60k service done as well as fuel pipes from smithy and a few other bits and bobs.

 

While the plenum is off, what can i do to the car for perfermance wise. Anything YES NO???????

Fas... bigger injectors allow you to run uprated turbos, and that's a plenum-off job.

 

Might be worth replacing all the hoses under there on spec...

My engine never got bored.... which is surprising really as it was sat in the garage by itself for a whole year :D

Andy as ur lumbered with the job what would you recommend that i get done performance wise with the plenum off!!!

 

Bigger injectors is not my idea really as if i do replace the turbos im looking for more reliability rather than humongous BHP

 

Id be happy with 14-15 psi roughly around 400bhp

At 400bhp your stock injectors will be maxxed out so if you ARE aiming for that power, I'd seriously recommend changing them! Apart from that, there's not really that much that can be done powerwise, without going a LOT further and removing the heads to port/polish etc etc...
