I picked it up on Monday lunch time, from Chorley Nissan

Had a loverly drive back along the M61, M60, M62 and A1(M) + A1, drove very niceley indeed.

Have been finding fault with it since though, nothing too bad, I hope, but niggly little things, as follows,

Passenger central door locking doesnt work.

FOS fog lamp not working.

Air Con display panel not illuminating.

And Ive found an oil leak from the FOS bumper, just in front of the wheel arch! I think it may be the power steering.

All things that shouldnt take much to sort out, i hope.

Now for a, probably dumb, question, when going round a corner, in town, and i run over a slight bump, the back end seems to jump out a bit, now is this a fault, or is it somthing to expect due to the stiffness of the suspension?

If you do a search on the rear jumping you'll discover that it's from worn rear shocks. These are available quite cheaply from the Z Centre (see traders section.

Good luck,

Geoff.

Happy New Year

on mine, the cause was worn hicas link arms NOT the shocks, so diagnose it properly!!

check for any wear in the rear suspension - jack the rear up & shake the wheels side to side & top to bottom.

Nice one mate,

As Paul says the rear wheel slip could be a number of things.

If I can say anything to help you save some money with maintainance it will be this... find the problem before you attempt the cure. If only I had spent more time on the diagnosis rather than throwing money at it I could have saved quite a few hundred quid.

If it turns out it is the shocks you are looking about £35 each + VAT so it won't be a big deal, rear link arms will be a little more, then it could be sub frame bushes which will be about £100 - £150, worst case senario would be a Hicas problem, but then you could fix this with a stillen rear wheel lock out kit.

The PAS leak with a common problem. It's probably the main U pipe that comes off of the PAS pump. You can only see this from below.

The fornt fog is more than likely a bulb, but it's an easy fix even if it's the wiring.

You can pick a new left hand side console up from AndyZ for about £25.

Passenger door is probably the solenoid on the door lock motor but it could be as simple as the window has caught on the wiring harness and pull the connector out. Door panel will need to come off for this one. Easy to do, but can be tricky locating all the screw the first time round.

Lets see some pics then mate ;)

Welcome to the board Dave. get these bits & bats sorted & you should find that the Z is quite a reliable motor.

I'm running my mate's Fiat Toupe 20v turbo whilst mine's off the road & I can't wait to give it him back.

You'll love that car in a few months:D

Got back from my mechanics b4 tea time. Went to see him regarding the rear jumping, he's diagnosed it as a weak rear near side shock. So gona give Luke a call at the Z Centre.

My mechanic said it should only cost me about £55 to fit a pair of shocks.................. So £125 for the whole job  well impressed.

Could have been a lot worse, still can be

Dave
