I want to replace all my vacumm hoses, I did a search, and got 2 different sizes, one person said 4 & 6mm, another said 3 & 5 mm fits better. Whats everyones opinion?

I guess they dont need any sort of clamp, at least, my existing ones dont have any on.

Thanks

John

4 and 6mm - get them from Smithy in the traders section ;) They go on snugly on their own, I cant think of any that need jubilee clips, other than where you're replacing a hose that has a clip anyway.

I did not see any vacuum hoses on Smithy's section, just fuel line hose. (by the way, is his fuel line kit all cut to size with the ends on, or does he sell you a length that you cut and fit the ends) What type of end connectors are those ? they look special.

John

Drop him a PM, he'll have some. The fuel lines - yep its a kit for the 300ZX, the right length pre-braided hoses with shiney end bits and a shiny spacer. Really is an excellent quality sturdy piece of kit  And no I'm not on commission :D

Here's pic (before I McSprayed my engine bay:D )

Oh and you will need a bit of 4mm silicon hosing anyway whilst fitting the fuel line kit, as the hard fuel/air lines are bypassed and taken off.

And change your fuel filter whilst fitting the kit too - its silly not to ;)

Those fuel lines certainly look great, I need to replace mine very soon, getting an occasional smell of petrol.

Pete,

I did not understand the bit about the 4 mm silicone tubing requirement ?

Alongside the RHS of the balance bar there are black metal fuel and air lines bolted to the plenum. These are what the fuel line kit replaces, however there are also metal and rubber air lines attached, so when you take off the hard fuel lines the air ones come with it leaving a gap.

You need a length (about 18" IIRC) of 4mm silicon hose to bridge the gap created

Ahh found a pic:

I've ringed the stuff thats replaced by the kit. The red blob on the FPR is where this extra silicon hose attaches, the other end goes down by the battery and is obvious when you are looking at the car and following the stock hoses ;)

You can see the hard piping, the air bit being the small section on the bottom.

Many thanks Pete mate ;) John most guys tend to get about 2metres of each size and just go round replacing all ood vaumm lines, real easy to do as well, usually 4mm + 6mm as it's only a couple of quid per metre i often give it free with orders over a 100 quid if any one asks for it anyway as simply postage is almost the same cost as the purchase  (only blue in stock at the mo though) the fuel line kit replaces ALL rubber and metal lines for the fuel across the plenum and reduces all those different connections down to just 4, the ends are pre fitted by me and are anodised.

any queries, just drop me a line.

cheers

Thanks Smithy,

I really like the fuel lines, I do get petrol smell (usually when cold) even though I have given the clamps an extra 1/4 turn or so. Probably due to hardening of the rubber hose at the clamp area I suspect.

Does your price include the brackets, spacers, etc. that I see in the pictures.

I take it the short hoses shown in the picture that Pete posted are not included. Do I just replace them with normal fuel line stuff from the local motor factors?

Do you stock this kit ? Shipped same day?

Thanks

John

Hi John, yep mate comes with everything needed mate, in petes pic where he drew the circle around the hoses, he missed out the 2 NEAREST to the circle he drew, these are also replaced in the kit, you end up with 2 long lines which replace all those desribed by pete and me, the only 2 it dont are shown at the left of his pic, the furthest away is actually behind the top of your cam covers where the throtle bodies connect via a bar and so you just can't get at it without removing various things, also the real small one again on left of pic is right down below the Plenum cover, not hard to do, but fiddly, i can stick a little bit in for that no probs.

Lines are always in stock, i dunno about the ends until tomorow when i check w/shop to see what's in.
