I am going to replace the fuel lines in the engine bay, what inside diameter is the tubing ? I will see if my local Blueprint dealer has braided tubing, if not I will buy the standard rubber variety.

Thanks

Speak to Smithy!!!

;)

I have braided lines that I got from him, pukka!! (look really nice too!)

Matty.

Hi John,

Hope you had a good Crimbo.

Can't help you with the internal diameter of the fuel hoses but did want to let you know that if you go for the standard stuff that you need to specify "high pressure" tubing as the fuel pressure in the 300 is higher than in many other vehicles. Fire off an e-mail to Smithy and he should be able to tell you (and then sell you the braided variety - high quality stuff!).

Regards mate!

hi there john,

yep as the lads say speak to smithy,

its 8mm fuel hose you need , smithy supplied me with some lovely braided stuff,

but make sure its high pressue though!!

Hi john, yep the guys are right (cheers boys), only it's 7.9mm for the Zed though ;) take a look at the kit on me site and let me know if it's any good for yer, compared to what Nissan want it's pretty good value.

cheers

Eventually I will get the braided ones, they look great. In the meantime, if I replace mine with standard fuel line, what pressure should I be looking at ? One local motor factors said he has line that is rated up to 150 psi, is that enough ?

Thanks

Yes,only runs around 40psi;)

Thanks Mac,

Thats a lot lower pressure than I thought. I looked on the internet to try and get some idea of the requirement......one company was listing their fuel injector type hose with a rated burst strength of 750 psi.

John

Fuel pressure is 37psi above intake pressure - if the intake is at atmospheric pressure, then the fuel pressure will be 37psi - take the intake up to 15psi of boost and the fuel line pressure will be 37+15=52psi.

Hose rated at over 75psi should be fine...

Thanks Andy..............Is that considered high pressure ? Does not seem like its very high. Will most fuel line tubing do the job then?

Thanks

John

Yep that IS high pressure - well as far as fuel lines on cars are concerned anyway. A lot of fuel hose is only rated to around 7psi which aint good - you'll blow it to pieces as soon as you turn the key, followed most probably by a nice fire
