does anyone have the same problem that when you go over a pothole (and Sheffields full of em) the rear of the car feels like its on ice. It seems to skit from side to side. Its not bad but its noticeable and I'd like to know if its a serious prob. I spoke to someone the other day and he said his does the same.

Could be a worn HICAS arm or ball joint. Gives the same symptoms as worn track rod end, but at the back.

Yeah I got this big style a few months back - changing the rear dampers cured it. I bought stock (gas filled) Nissan ones and they're fine.

ta, I think Ive seen Zworld selling these for £30 each.

how much/easy are they to fit

Yeah I got mine from Zedworld :) I got them fitted in return for whisky (cheers JD) :D, took a couple of hours inc taking all the boot trim and rear seats out, and coffee.

If you're gonna pay for fitting - take the trim and rear seats out to expose the struts first yourself, to reduce the labour charge.

If you're gonna do it all yourself, I guess its no different from any other car. Good socket set, crowbar, spring compressers needed...

would it be worth having lowering springs fitted at same time?

Before committing to new shocks, just check your rear tyre pressures. The Z is very sensitive to dodgy pressures, especially on oversized wheels.

Cheers, whats the psi for standard?

If you're gonna get lowering springs it'd be ideal as the springs have got to come off to fit new dampers :)

Jason, I can't remember but it'll be on the car somewhere (possibly on the drivers door from memory ?). If not, someone will know. I'm Z'less now so can't check !

I had this problem once and 3 psi made an amazing difference.

Dave

You're not kidding about the tyre pressures, a few Psi either way feels like a totally different car.

Lift up the lid on the arm rest/centre console and there's a sticker under there with the correct pressures on it ;)

Its more than likely going to be the shocks/rear tie rods but its well worth checking the pressures first ;)

CheerZ,

Andy

For standard alloys:-

Front 34psi

Rear 36 psi
