Er... got one. ;)

Mike Feeney's post from the zclub.net forum

The TT 4th gear is the same as the 350Z 5th (i.e. 1:1) and 3rd is somewhere towards the top end of the gap between the 350Z 3rd and 4th, so direct comparisons are not possible,

[/b]

Close, but no cigar. Final drive and wheel size also differ between the vehicles so comparing gear ratios is not much help! Of course they're not comparable, the top speed is lower and there is an extra ratio to fit in there...

Anyway, the performance seems pretty similar in general. I just don't believe Top Gear's test was fair, and it seems to be that if Clarkson had to choose he'd pick a Z32, and oh look viewers, which one won?

To fuel the debate further I now point out the 350z is snappier to drive because it's NA.

The downside of that is you can't tune the tits off it, but we're talking about stock models here (aren't we?)

You can tell.............:slap: :slap: :xxx: ;) :p :D

There's the sound thing too though...

vrrrrreeeooowwwwwooooooooooooossssssssssssssssssssssshaaaaaaaa[snick]vrrrrrooooooooooooosssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

compared to

chugachugachugachugaCHUGACHUGA[thud][clunk][thud]chugachugachugachugaCHUGACHUGA

which is just about 0-60 in both cars...

Amusingly the cars are geared about the same but the extra 3000 revs make quite a lot of difference ;)

All of this is very good - but I also missed the proggie - please OH puhleeeeeeeeze someone upload it. If your having problems cutting it down email me I can do it.

Cheers

Rod

What did you miss? The vid of the 300zx thing is up for download

The one 1 looked at didn't have tits. Is that a new extra to make it more attractive or is that what sits in the seats.

For my money the Z32 is a real clasic like the 240Z, the mark 1 Mustange to name 2. They have timeless lines, power and the only tits you get in them are the ones that are drawn in by the in built fanny magnets.:slap:  :D

I thought that law was being relaxed now, as isnt the R35 supposed to be a 400bhp NA V8?

Only models destined for shores beyond Nip land and then there's no BHP limit. Also the R35 has been in production for over a year and is a four door or two door coupe. It uses both V8 and the same power plant as 350Z (Renault isn't it :D ) The GTR is a stand alone model was due out in 2004 now 2007.

Finally something I missed in my previous rant... they don't have "a shed load of them to shift" - they have a waiting list in months already! I think even Nissan have been caught out by demand.

There are loads of them in Japan and you can pic plenty of second hand ones up there too. They do have shed loads. I mean what would you do if because of cuts in buget due to low sales of Nissan world wide the new model is not as good as previous model. You Engineer a demand.

Basic marketing!! Knowing how snobby the Brits are they say, "hey were only bringing in a limited number". Then they tell everyone how demand is so great you have to wait because every body wants one of the few their bringing in. Bingo every Mr and Mrs Jones wants one, Demand created. (*no offence intended to any one name Jones)

Just look what BMW did and now there are more 3 series beema's on the road than anything else. Don't see that happening to the 350Z though because it says Nissan on it. One carn't turn up to little Jimmy's party in a Nissan your friends might think you were poor.

Now that's a good point. Nissan should introduce the NISMO marque for their performance cars. Discuss.

(As a case in point my mates all refer to "the Bluebird" , and ask if I've picked up any good fares this week and when Mr B off of Peter Kay wants his car back...)

But then if girlie looks are a problem can you explain the success of the Audi TT?

Whats wrong with Z without the Nissan bit that would be sound, just as they do in Nip Land. Lets face it the Nissan name has such little Kudos that in the States the Skyline and the New 430E are called Infiniti.

As for the Audi TT? Well that's one of my main reasons for disliking the Z350. It looks like a poor copy of a cute girly car. Driven by mainly girls and her dressers. Its not goimg to be a classic. ( like the 280Z and Z31, best forgotten):D

Just read the http://www.350zuk.com take on this...

In summary:

The cars have almost identical power-to-weight ratio so it's all down to gearing and shape of the torque curve. If you do all the maths you'd expect that the 300 will be slightly ahead at 1/5th mile and then will just about win over the quarter - but then once you get into the 6th the 300 has more pull.

So there you go: the 350 is quicker to 60, slower to 80, quicker to a ton, and will run out of puff sometime after that. Just goes to show what a load of old pony 0-anything times are eh?

Couple of the guys from that forum were in the audience...

Anyway, I like both. And I am at some point going to have both. So there. :p
