My mate has a Escort cosworth (standard apart from some 19" OZ's:bow: ) and apart from the initial start were about level until mine goes into 3rd then i start to pull away, it is a close one though. We have never been to the Pod and raced officially always a very nice flat, straight country road (but only up to the speed limit;) )

LMFAO that must be the biggest load of shite I've ever heard. Manuals launch better FULL STOP. Have you ever been drag racing? Its kind of fooking hard to build up revs and launch of the clutch when you havent fooking got one:rolleyes: :slap:

If you dont mind wearing the box out then you can do it - you hold the brake down and accelerate - the box hates it but you only do it for a few seconds then let the brake off and off you go.

Like I said - its not recommended.

Thats what 13 second Colin does at the Pod. He's even got it written on a post it note on his dash"4000rpm, foot off brake, go!" :D :D

Even so, his launches are smooth, but not quick

Pete, given that when I did my 13.4, I was runing slightly less boost than you, I think the difference in our times is probably just down to the launch.

I thought that the 300zx had a cr@p start, I could have done a better job myself :slap: & yet it still won!

I think the spoiler probably stopped me from going the .005 seconds faster I needed to go to manage a 13.3:rolleyes:

It was a classic "Traffic Light GP" scenario. Light changes, both cars pull away, other car slightly in front of the Z. Then, 50 yards up the road the turbos come on song and whoooosh! The other car is history:D

I was cheering my ass off when the Z32 won,. well chuffed, how gutted would we have all been if it had of lost!!:(

What do you guys think the result would of been over the 1/4 mile,as there are some ruffled feathers here,

"By all accounts the 350Z is quicker through the standing quarter than the 300ZX so dont count your chickens mate !!

Its also quicker to 100mph - so I would suggest that as the distance and speed increased the Z would beat a stock 300ZX."

I've allready had my 2p's worth over there:D :slap: :D

Who's accounts? Mr Nissan (Renault)?

There going to tell you that the new 350z quicker because they've got a shed load of em to shift. Personaly I think the new 350z with it's renault technology is a poor replacement and I know Clarkson thinks the same. It doesn't matter how much you dress it up it's always going to be an ugly duckling and if I was going to spend £30,000 on a new motor I'm afraid it would have to be a Noble. Unless I could get a delivery milage 300zx of course:D P.S. I agree the auto would have made a cleaner start.

With 2 turbo's it damn well shudda won !!;) :D

Bob at SE was telling me that the 350 they have there is quicker than a stock 300zx TT .

as a non owner of either the300zx or the 350z can't wait for the Z Clubs drag challange series in 2004 to see what would win

would win

I Don't think Mike Feeney's 350 will be stock by then though from the last time I spoke to him

Will post up an invite/ challenge on the 350 forum in the new year and see whether I can get all three clubs along then could almost take over the pod

Yeah but how many stock 300's do you know of?

And 300's are a damn sight easier to get power out of than an all aluminium na FFS:slap: :D

It's not a bloody Renault bloody engine. I'm going shove a piece of Camembert up Mr Clarkson's ass if I ever meet him.

The 350Z has as many horsies, more gears, more torque, and a much shorter final drive ratio. For those reasons I'd expect it to be QUICKER to 100, but get left behind shortly after. Better suspension and TC will also help launch. I think it's fractionally lighter.

I had a test drive a couple of weeks ago and it seemed as quick as the Z, although because it's more consistent through the range it's less fun, in a strange sort of way.... That was despite being unable to rev over 4k as it was still being run in.

I am amazed a stock 300ZX TT beat it, I truly am... ESPECIALLY, as some have said already, over a 1/5 mile. (1/5 mile? Who the hell does 1/5 mile runs?) That doesn't mean I don't like the Z32. I've got one, after all.

Actually as a contemporary sports car, I think the 350Z is somewhat underpowered. The civic type R gets 197bhp from 2 na litres. The S2000 gets 237:eek: from 2 na litres.

The 350Z gets what 260-280 bhp depending on spec from 3.5 litres??? Surely it should be making at least 350bhp? ;)
