I was in a service station tonight and there was an arcade game called Wagnag Midnight. Basically a Jap car street racing thing, but the goal of the game is to catch and beat the Phantom Z. :D :D :D

Any one seen it?

'Fraid not. Think the last arcade driving game I played was "Outrun"! (showin my age now! :D )

Brings a nostalgic tear to my eye! :D

Mind you...I seem to remember always being swayed by "Afterburner". Christ I poured so many 1 pond pieces into that as a kid it wasn't funny! Oh...and now I'm thinking about it, "Golden Ax" as well! The inevitable result of family holidays at the seaside!:D

There was nothing better then playing a game of Double Dragon with your mates ;)

Had almost forgotten that one! Seem to remember there was one called erm..."Shadow Ninja" (maybe?) that always got my attention. Jeez...and to think at the time how "state of the art" everyone thought they were! Oh...and there was also the singularly most annoying arcade game on the planet...think it was called "Dragons Lair"? The one that had cartoon graphics? You always seemed to end up dying after about 4 seconds not knowing what the f*ck had happened. Then again, maybe it was just me... ;)

Ahh but do you remember this?

Cisco Heat, recognise the car? ;)

Just been playing it & it gives me a headache, terrible terrible scrolling effect.

Yep Dragons Lair. I never saw it but I remember it. You just had to move the joystick at the right time or something.

Strangly enough I was looking at that on a classic arcade site and there was a vid clip of the ending.

Dragon Ninja was trying to jump on the bandwaggon of Double Dragon, but failed.

I loved Afterburner too, but prefered Space Harrier. I always got a buzz when I played a Sega arcade game and its said "GET READY!" :D :D :D

Oh those where they days of sprites and stuff. Now its all pollygons

My god those graphics where terrible for its time :(

There is a 300ZX in the Mega Drive version of Chase HQ 3. Never as good as the original.

My all time favorite coin-op was Double Dragon. When you completed it and if you were playing with a mate, you had to fight to the death for the girl... Class :D

anyone remember spy hunter - now that must've took at least a hundred quid in coins off me.

aahh memories,

Anyone remember Shinobi, all you did was basically kick everyones head in and then on speical levels threw ninja star thingys (???) at objects to knock them over.

Afterburner was my fave though the reality back then i suppose was very good.

I used to play on 720 alot as well a skate board game,

Oh just remembered paperboy, anyone else.

Rich

And there's me thinking I wasn't that old.

My two favorite games were:

Pole position

Karate Champ (with the two joysticks)

My mother used to think I was going swimming every weekend - when I really didnt touch the water - just played on the DragonNinja machine in the arcades next door

Never realised Cisco Heat had a 300ZX in

Anyone remember Manic Miner?? :D:D

Wangan Midnight!! :D Wangan is a strip on the Tokyo ring-road, isn't it? Here in Notts the closest thing I can find is Initial D at Trowell services southbound - Initial D is an anime series worth checking out if you like that kind of thing, btw - it's about JP mountain-pass racing, the story of a young Tofu delivery driver in his dad's AE86. There's some nice technical detail in there if you're into JP cars, drifting, etc, and some *awesome* CG battle scenes... but I've not seen any Zeds yet :(

Not arcade, but anyone played any of the Tokyo Highway Battle series? The first one on Dreamcast had an old 260z as the ultimate boss ;) It's a good game for dreaming with - you can buy a Z32, respray it, slowly kit it out just the way you like it, upgrade, tweak... *sigh*

The game that claimed my pocket money was R-Type.

Ahh the memories of the highscore table come flooding back.....

:)

Jeez, I feel old now! When I were a lad, about the only arcade games out were:-

1. Space Invaders (thought the table top version was WOW! LOL!)

2. Galaxians - cool:cool:

3. Asteroids - Loved it!

4. Gorf - remember that!?!?

oh, just remembered - TRON! and DEFENDER!

ghosts n goblins for me!!!

r type

ghost n goblins

splatter house

these are my top 3

the new r type on the ps2 is well hard, amazing graphics too.

Some Submarine game on Clacton pier ate loads of my 10p's. Defender is an old favourite though...:D

My mate and myself were the kings of Outrun, being able to finish all finish lines.

We spent many hours (instead of attending our college lectures) competing against each other to optimise our completion times, but whos best (who knows!!).

Used to spend all my paper roung money it

I used to starve myself at school, save up my dinner money (50p a day) and then head to the arcades in Croydon on a Saturday. 10p a game or 20p if it was a goodun. Used to love Asteroids, Missile Command, Defender, Scramble and Battlezone. Ah my wasted youth! :D :D :D
