My lovely Zed, yesterday ran perfect. Got home went in for dinner 15 minutes later came out, went to start the car and it did not start.

I used ConZult no errors found. But there is a hissing sound coming from around the back right-hand side coil pack.

I tightened the pipes, but still can hear a hissing sound and the car will still not start.

I think it may be something to do with the fuel, as when I switch the relay off with conZult the car will start but not for long.

What the hell is going on with my Zed

Does it smell of petrol? Could just be the final heating/cooling cycle has split a pipe you can't immediately see...

Or the fuel pump?

Check your fuel pump fuse, if you open the bonet the fuse box is located on the left hand side at the rear of the engin bay.

leave the car for a few hours, get someone to crank it over while you pinch the fuel line in fron tof the fuel filter with you thumb and finger. Does the pressure build up when the ignition is turned on and the engine is cranked ?. If not then it's the fuel pump.

I have checked the fuse, looks OK. The fuel line is soild even before starting the car. Just tried it, the car started after 5 attemps then it just cut out after 20-30 seconds.

Phoned work and told them I am unwell :D so I have tommorow to work on the Zed

Might as well install my front strut bar, and wire up my volt meter.

Thanks for your help guys.

Yep 2nd from the left IIRC.

When you turn the ignition on but don't start the engine can you hear the fuel pump in the boot wine for a second or two ?

May be worth checking the CAS as this controlls the injectors.

There is a noise coming from the fuel pump. Still no errors showing on ConZult. How do I go about checking the CAS?

Give it a wack with the hammer

Just a quick update: Spent yesterday cleaning the connectors, throttle bodies. Checked for errors afain with conZult, 0 errors found.

But I think it may be the PTU, as the car only starts when it cold and will not start after hot.

What do you guys think?

may be worth checking temperature sensor switch contact. mine was slightly corroded so engine kept flooding when warm, thinking car was still cold. after a quick clean has been fine. may not be the answer but def worth a look.

Nick,

Sometimes I can smell petrol when mine is running, I checked all the hoses, all seemed ok. You mentioned the temperature sensor switch contact, Where abouts is it.......maybe mine needs cleaning.

Thanks

in the metal pipe that connects to radiator top hose (directly in front of engine block) there are two switches. the one on the offside, mine's coloured yellow, i believe it's called the coolant temperature sensor switch. whatever the correct name i pulled the connector, saw it was corroded and cleaned it with emery board. also gave a good spray of wd40. never had a problem since. real relief at the time cos i thought it was the ptu!
