Morning!

Hardly the biggest 'problem' lol but something that got me thinking this morning.

Trundling along normally lightly resting on the accelerator pedal as you do... when I lift off, there is what I can describe as engine braking for a second, quite noticeable when you are thinking about it.

I'm sure it has always done this but can anyone explain what the autobox does when you lift off the pedals? :) Is it simply the clutch disengaging?

Cheers

Pete

If you are in top gear then it will shift out of it - shouldnt be that noticeable though.

mine does this to mate, it does seem as though theres play in it, I know what you mean.

I think mines always done it and not when im in top gear.

Its only a slight movement though?:)

Cool cheers :) It kind of annoys me once I start thinking about it LOL  ...whilst driving in free moving traffic especially. Guess I should just keep my foot down more ;) :D

Suppose it must be top gear cos when you're idling along it will up shift anyway.

I found that the adjustment of the TPS is vital in limiting this effect. Otherwise it does it way before you have your foot off the pedal. Mines adjusted spot on and only shifts down when its a fraction off idle position.

I've had it both ways (ooer!)... momentary engine braking as I'm letting off, and the revs going up as I let off - both annoying. As Bilky says, it only takes a little tweak to the TPS to get it right. Basically, you're right... it's the lock/slip coming off too late. You haven't got an ALC I take it?

I have got an ALC as it goes, I'll test the voltage across th TPS then and reset ECU and things and see what that does.

Try taking the ALC out too. That's gonna make gear changes a bit more violent at light throttle. I hear (just an opinion) they're pointless anyway, because the autobox ECU winds up the line pressure when the box needs it... the ALC just sets it high all the time.

Will do :) - Would be good to have a switch to activate the ALC when you want, as I hear they create more wear & tear on the 'box.

I guess it wouldn't be that difficult...
