Morning all.

Was gonna buy a new gearnob as mines looking a tad tired - picked one up (a universal one) which has a little grubscrew on etc, but cannot work out how to take mine off?

Bloke in the shop said I'd have to hacksaw it off and butcher it then just fit the new one.

Please tell me hes off his head and theres a proper way to do this. This is why I like doing jobs myself coz he was gonna fit it for me!!!

just unscrew it!!! You might find the 'nut' inside shears off, but you can remove it separatey!!

I tried turning it anticlockwise and it goes for about 1/4 inch then stops dead

what do I do - just crack it hard round? then remove the grub screw?

The manual gearknob unscrews anti-clockwise. However, they are stuck on with threadlock/Loctite, so can be a bugger to get off. I completely trashed my old one by having to use Molegrips !

Wrap a towel round it for extra puchase.
