Looking for advise:

My driver side windscreen jet leaks every time I accelerate hard or brake. Nothing major, just enough to wet the bonnet. But the passenger side is fine, no leaking no matter how hard the breaking, and both work fine for wetting the windscreen, although they are a bit week.

Something wrong or normal on these older cars?

Is there something I can do to stop it leaking?

Oh, its a 92 jap import, in case that matters.

Cheers

Is it leaking from the washers?

Could be the washers are old and need replacing. Only £7 or so from Nissan.

Yip I'm sure it the washers, and I'm pretty sure the leak is actualy from the hole in the washer that the jet of water is supposed to come from.

You can tell I'm a real techy... is there some sort of valve that should prevent water from escaping unless using the washers?

could that have gone, and would replcing the washer resolve this?

Cheers

It is probably the housing of the washer which has split, or the rubber seal around the metal part with the holes in, which has perished. Have you checked the hose which attaches to the nozzel?

If it is not the squirter which has split or leaking slightly, the only other way it could leak is if the washer pump is pumping very very lightly all the time and I really doubt its that ;)

Im sure chaning the washer will do it. Its probably over 10 years old now anyway,.

Change the check valve under the bonnet just before the jet, you'll see it easily. Most good motor factors will sell you one for literally pence, job solved!!

Paul.

PS, change the jets instead if you want, but it'll still leak without a new one way check valve!:)

Cheers Guys.

I'll go see a man about a valve and jet this weekend.
