Tried my fog lights today (n/a Import) the front passenger side fog light came on, but no difference at the rear, how is it supposed to work ? is it on a separate fuse ? separate bulb ? or special bulb ?

Thanks

Hi,

The jap import does not have rear fogs as standard - they are susposed to be fiited when brought into the uk! Have you definatley got them? Usually convert a reverse light or brake light...

My jap import has none - even though it has passed several MOT tests!!

Just shows how much testing is done on the MOT - as it is a UK requirement!

Thanks Barry,

No, it does not have a rear fog light.........amazing, when I bought the car 6 months ago they gave me the last 4 m.o.t.'s

I guess I will have to go for the brake light conversion. Is this a legal way to do it?

Thanks

John

If you do a search on here, there are lots of people who have done it, I think there may be some links to "how to's" as it is a popular DIY job...

I did a search, found a wiring diagram that shows wiring up a relay to the "inner" brake lights. What do they mean by "inner", surely its just the drivers side brake lights to wire up to ?

Maybe its easier to buy a fog light kit from Halfords?

Thanks

A company called Outlander Products do a little black box that you can use the inner brake lights as fogs and still keep your inner brake lights as well, and the "LIGHTS" warrning on the dash does not come on when you use the brakes.

Their contact details are Tel 0208 589 9710 or email outlanderproducts@tiscali.co.uk

...my non-turbo has the high level brake light (it's got a TT rear spoiler) wired up as a fog light. After a MOT, I simply re-connect it as a high level brake light. They never ask why the high level brake light isn't working...

I just got this off the Internet regarding fog light requirements for the M.O.T.

Rear Fog lamps**

must be fitted to the centre or offside of the vehicle

tell-tale must work

must not be affected by other lamps and not be obscured

must be red.

(2 asterisks said it applies to all cars after 1980)
