I've had a word at work and they will stump up the £500 for a team. I did say we would be called 'Team Snake Racing'.

 

"The event takes place at Fast lane Karting at fenton Stoke, February 27th 7.00PM to 7.00PM on the 28th" - Beamer2 quote.

You need to be 100% definate to do this as I would prefer for nobody to drop out as 8 hours driving a kart may hurt a tad....

Matty has a problem re Karting so do i because i dont want to let anyone down on this forum but its simply i need £ 100 deposit to be paid to Fast Lane Karting to enter the event and i have been relaying delaying messages to Fast lane. IThey have been good enough to hold a spot open for the team even though they have another cheque ive since found out theve sent the cheque back & rejected a team entry on the strength of your team taking part.

I believe matty has problems with work stumping up the inital deposit of £100 of the £350 entry. Do you all want to chip in or shall i now embarass myself by telling them

the team wont be doing this.

I just need to Know urgently so i can sort it.

So - what is the overall break down and how will it work?

cos it works like this each team can be up to 12 people,

the event is 24 hrs. the price per team is £350 so for 6 of you it would be approx £58

each for 4 hours of Karong which is a lot of Karting the team races for charity and raises £500 as a team through sponsorship and brings the charity money raised to the event so 12 teams bring this money along making £6000.At the end of the event £250

is given back to each teams charity and we race for the other £3000 the winning teams charity gets £1500 £1000 2nd £500 3rd.

At the same time the event has a music festival where local bands and musicians will be performing to raise money for charity.

The event has appeared 3 times in the local newspaper and that will continue from now till the end The event will be on local Radio over the next 2 weeks and poss TV

We are hoping to get into the Guinness book of Records

Eg !2 people pay around £30 to get 2hrs of karting and have to raise and bring along £500 ie£40 sh min per person I walked into my local asked for sponsoship & got £66 in 20 mins our team have raised well in excess os £500 in the space of 1 week.

So, does that mean that for the paople racing, their donation with be the £26.50 - £58, depanding on numbers and this will be for the use of the cars and track.

 

If this is the case, I think that £58 might be a bit much to ask from one person, not sure how everyone else feels. If everyone agrees, I think we should have more people on the team, which will help each other's pockets and allow people to have longer rest periods during the event. I know the initial thought of doing 24hrs of karking is fun but I have done quite a few 24hr events for charity, as I'm sure many others have, and have found it quite tiring even when doing something I would normally enjoy.

 

Therefore, I propose that another up to 6 members join the team so that the event can go ahead. Answers on a post card!

Work were okay with giving us the money to take part in the event but now it's nearer the event they have strangly gone, they don't answer the phones, don't respond to email and I left voice mails too.........

 

I am going to string up the 'management' at work that was 'sorting' it for me with the bosses....

If anything develops between now and tomorrow, closing time given by 'Beamer2' the slot will go to another team.....

If so in view of the time ive spent posting messages on the forum & E mails could you please be decent enough to tell me so.

especially since ive now paid £100 to Fast lane and have only managed to find 5 Karters to replace the snake racing team. Im usually very placid but events like this frankly annoy me

Sorry, didn't mean to ignore you, the Mrs has decided that I obviously don't do enough during the week and so has filled up my next 2 days with non stop DIY.

 

As for the turbos, Topless bought them off me as I was a bit brasic at the time.

 

And as far as the Karting goes, I'm still up for it. Do the 5 people that you have found make the final 12?
