Hi all!

I need help & advice.

I have my micra in garage,1200cc auto.

cam cover off, engine in car,

I need to get the fly wheel off so I can change the water pump.

How do I stop the fly wheel turning whilst try to undo fly wheel nut which is at 9.2 kg torque!

Do I need a special tool I have tried to put a jack under fly wheel to hold it with no luck!

I cannot put it in gear like a manwell!

Please help

this is my daily runabout and with it off road it does mean I get to drive my Z more:)

well personally i think the Micra should stay off the road and take the Zed out for a good blast while it still works

yeah. best bet=sell the micra to fuel the Z:D

if that dont work, jam the flywheel up with a strong bar/spanner, etc and try tapping the breaker-bar to undo it;)

Hi Dafty

Great idea! I did 23,000 miles in my Z first year!!:)

Cost me 10x more in petrol then my micra!

Siraff, I think I will give this a go. I will put the engine mount back in place so it holds the engine firm, then place a rubber hammer under the jack & a wedge bar in fly wheel.

If that aint good enough I will get some rad weld!!

When I had my Z engine out of the car and had similar problems I put a long breaker bar onto the crank pulley bolt and wedged that against the floor at the front of the engine.

Stopped the crank turning so you can get the flywheel off/torqued.

You would probably have thought of that though so I presume you can't get to the crank pulley...?

If you have enough room there is a £22 12v electric impact wrench from Argos / Index that can give 250lbsfoot torque - great for stuck wheel nuts etc and no need to hold the flywheel. Just make sure the right size soccket is used or the nuts will be well and truly chewed up with it.

Its about the size of a leccy drill.
