I have just fitted my Power Id which I bought of one of the GTO boys. I had a quick demo of it in his car so I know it works.

However after fitting it to my car. I have connected up the Speed wire to the ECU (Yellow/Green). But when I try to calibrate it I'm getting a calibration error.

I have done a search and I know ZedHot had the same problem as I am having at some stage.

He did manage to sort this out but he does not say how he managed to fix the problem.

Anyone fitted a power ID, that can help ?

I had the same problem before my engine exploded.

I don't think the 2 were related! ;)

Have you got a speed convertor?

I heard it needed wiring in "the other side of the convertor" wherever that might be!

Never got chance to sort it before it went tits up!

I fooking hope the two weren't related

Ok, so before the convertor would be the speedo or the ECU ?

What is before ? which direction are we travelling ?

Just tried the ECU side and I can't calibrate anything below 35mph.

I'll take the dash apart as soon as I get a spare hour and try that side.

Thanks Chris.

Any other suggestions in the meantime ?.

anyone know where I can get the harness that links the power ID to the ECU ?

I havent looked at the instructions in over a year but I think it said you have to be doing 30mph or something so you might have sorted it.

Have you got the manual? Mine is buried in the garage somewhere.

I got the harness from Grasshopper, I think it was about £30 which is a con for 3 or 4 lengths of wire and a connector.

Hi Stu

You calibrate it at 25 mph or 40 kph mate.

Had lots of fun driving down the road on my own not looking where i was going to do it :D

Thanks Chris, No I haven't got the instruction manual as I bought it 2nd hand.

Mike,

Yeah, when I go into calibration mode it says drive at 25mph and press enter. I do this and it says "calibration error !". I tried again at a slower speed and got the same thing, however I managed to set the calibration, but I needed to do a minimum of 35 mph.

So this is no use at all, as the power i-D thinks I'm doing 25 when I'm actually doing 35.

Mike / Chris or anyone else. Can you see if there is anything about this in the manual ?.

I can't seem to find an online version of this so if anyones got a photo copy lying around there's a few beers in it for you :D.

I'll try to dig mine out but it's somewhere under half a Z engine in boxes in the garage LOL

I've never seen it in online form but it's only about 2 pages of A4.

Ah ah,just found the online manual in my 1000s of favourites box:D

Thanks Guys,

The PDF that Tony linked should do the trick.

I'll let you know if I manage to sort it as I'm sure others will have the same problem at some stage.

Hi Stuart

Got a similar prob. Drive the car at a steady 25mph, hit the enter key on the id and it accepts without a calibration error. However, immediately after calibration, the speed reading on the id is significantly less than the speedo. In other words, it doesn't appear to be correctly calibrating. Would be interested to learn of your experience whilst I continue to play with it at the weekend.

Might be the box of tricks is correct and the speedo is reading significantly high. In fact, that's pretty likely.

If you've got an accurate rev count somewhere you could work out your speed from that and check against BOTH readings? (Note, the stock rev counter isn't that accurate...)

Pretty sure the speedo's OK because when I'm doing say, 30mph, the id indicates 12mph. There's just too much of a variance and I know I'm definitely not doing 12mph.
