I'm sure this question has been answered many times before, Next year i'm looking to do some serious mods to my UK 300ZX TT.

Have just had my standard turbos repaired with new inserts, housing and 360 Thrust bearings and am wondering which boost controller is best, the Apexi S-AVCR or the Blitz jobie.

Current car set up is Blitz Air Filter, Z Center Exhaust system without cats, Irridium Spark plugs Twin HKS Boost guages, EGR Valves Disabled, Running Standard boost (9PSI)

I'm also looking for some noisey blow-off valves to replace the standard units so need to know which ones to go for Blitz again or HKS Super SQV. Which makes the best noise and do you fit them where the recirculating ones are now or do you fit them just after the throttle boides and keep the recirculating ones as-well??!!

Last question is what is the maximum boost the standard engine will take (Heard it's about 1Bar) before trouble sets in and what BHP figure can I expect with this sort of set up. Engine is Mint... Appriciate the feed back folks!!!

You should also look at the Greddy boost controller which seems to be the favoured option if current threads are anything to go by.

As for level of boost on a stock engine, depends how quickly you want to do your engine rebuild!

You should be able to run 1.1 - 1.2 bar safely with improved fuelling (either a chip or an AFC)

As far as boost controllers go I'm perfectly happy with my AVC-R. Its a piece of pi$$ to set up, and even being set on fire has'nt stopped mine from working:D

At this stage of mod, you should be running around 360bhp at the crank.

As for Dump valves, Ive got HKS, which are great, but other members on here prefer blitz, so its really down to a personal preference thing.

I reckon you could sell loads of these, what a sales pitch....

NB: Don't play with matches. :D

Next time I go to the pod, I think I'll spark it up at the start of my run:D

You need to chip up your ECU next - if you haven't.

Geoff.

its just a precautionary measue. the valve can get stuck open and allow boost leakes, which needs the engine to come out or a similar amount of labour to fix.

as i am new to zedding but love every minute of it ..what is an EGR and when should i take it out ..........prevention being better than cure and if i take it out what effect will it have on the motor

sorry to be a numpty guys .............

Its not worth removing it unless your engine is out, unless theres a problem with it.

having my EGR removed while the engine is out at the moment apparently gives a little more power being removed aswell

Don't ask me how though

you shouldnt notice any difference in performance from their removal as they only come into affect when your cruising.

mine are about to be removed too as the turbos are getting replaced as we speak...pair of smithy's hybrids

do u know how your mechanic is going to remove the stuff and block the holes tho? i have read every post and put up a few about it myself but still aint confident i know everything! :(

my mechanic has reservations about what to use to block the hole on the exhaust manifold due to the high temps there. know what your mechanics gonna use?

well they seem bloody quick to me !!:D

I will hopefully be able to post my torque curve in the next couple of days.

Alex

Alright guys, since you have just had yours done, i am quite interested in how they perform, and how much they have cost you in total, i gotta get mine done, but im having trouble deciding what ones to get, and even worse where to take the car to have them fitted, silvia are an option, however they are top price for fitting top price for the turbo's, and theres like always and ten year waiting list??????

Any suggestions would be great

Cheers

Paul

Import TT,Blitz SUS, Stainless Cat-less System, running a huge 5PSI (dont you just love boost leaks) but it stills beats most things.......

it all depends on how much you want to spend.

i cant now post my torque curve because since i fitted the nismo 555's it runs like shit. But i am trying to get a car that is very resposive mid to low down and try to get it up around 450 hp.

For me smithy's stage II-III roller bearing turbos looked like the best option but its a work in progress so i'll have to keep you posted.

SE's upgrade is a TB2808 which can push more air through but is slower to spool and if you've got loads of money look at the greddy 16g or 18g they look like a nice package and have got good result in the US.

Regards,

Alex

E.G.R Exhaust Gas Recirculation, Having these blocked off allows slightly quicker spool up time of the turbos, + stops boost leaks if your EGR's are nackered!!

From what I hear though, replacing the EGR actually makes the car run better.
