Took it down to ZedWorld today, 320 mile drive, didn't miss a beat, purred down the motorway, didn't use as much fuel as I had feared.

Just a shame it was so DAMN WET!

Still, when it comes back with new timing belt, water pump etc etc, I will at least be a bit more confident about giving it some stick ;)

The engine would run better with the damp air. It would also help with the MPG.

Why would it use less fuel?

Engines perform better in the damp air. Damp air is cooler and hold more oxygen, which means it combusts better, meaning more powerful and cleaner combustion with the same amount of fuel. Anything which creates more power with no fuel increase will impove MPG.

It is actually said removing CATs will increase your MPG.

I'm perfectly aware how it increases the power, but u have more power due to extra fuel being burnt. Cold dense damp air will cool the mas more so u inject more fuel. If u have more power u will use less throttle, but not enough to reduce mpg.

Actually when i think about it i think we're both right.

Kinda jumped in feet 1st.
