having a nightmare with my headlights...

 

they've said they're not emarked (obviously), and that there's no hotspot on the main beam

 

So am i right that the e marking doesn't need to be on for an import?

 

And, how can i adjust the beam to get a hotspot without one of their light boxes?? A couple of the adjusters are cracked , so it's a nightmare!!

 

I've got to go back in an hour to argue it out!!

ok, sounds to me like there a little confused.

 

theres 2 types basically

 

1, the european "e" beam

 

&

 

2, the british american typ

 

 

type 1 is tested on dipped beam & the pattern is what you're looking at with a horizontal line & the distinctive "kick up" to the left

 

type 2 can be tested on main or dip beam & has a "hot spot" which should measured

 

the MOT manual states

 

a lens MAY carry a european "E" mark

 

it doesnt have to & is not reason for rejection. its just to help identify how to test the beam according to 1&2 above

 

as long as you have the correct pattern & its adjusted correctly then thats all that matters.

Rich, where did you take it for the MOT?? There's some complete cretins doing MOT's in Chester - real jobsworths. There's a couple of backstreet places under the arches behind the racecourse that seem like good geezers, got my jap done there no probs...

It's a decent one who i've known for years, and is quite flexible.. just says he can let it through!!

 

I'm thinkin of tryin the one under the arches this afternoon (a friend goes there nd NEVER fails!!)

BTW, there is also a third page, which is another B/A type checked on dipped beam, which also doesnt apply!
