I ordered a gasket for my autobox oil pan (n/a import) after 2 months the Nissan dealer called me and said the part was in. I went down, and he handed me a steel oil pan....the idiot ordered the wrong part. But the pan had a drain plug in it, which leads me to believe it was for a UK version. Unless jap replacement pans have a drain plug. He is still trying to check it out. In the meantime, does anyone know if this mod was made to import pans?

Thanks

not too sure on this one but i think the uk spec auto has an auto box oil cooler. this may be why you have the drain plug in the pan and not elswere. could be wrong, but if it fits it should be ok anyway i would have thought. as long as the drain plug clears everything in the 'box the only difference is you have a new drain plug.:) HTH. si.

Thanks Siraff,

I did not take the pan from the dealer yet, he does not have a gasket anyway..........another 6 week wait for that.

Funny thing is, the steel pan is only £18, gasket is over £20???

John,

It might be worth contacting Mike Feeney, Chrissy P got one from him in a few days (NA import).

John, my Jap TT auto oil pan had a drain plug if that helps/confuses

Hi John,

Mike feeney got my gasket for me, much quicker than nissan,

the drain plug thing is to do with the age of the car not import/uk or turbo/non turbo, drain plugs are no real use anyway, as you still need the sump off as all the gunge will still be sat in the pan bottom and on the magnet, so will need cleaning off.

Thanks Paul,

From what you say, then maybe the pan that the dealer has will fit, that is, if Nissan upgraded all the pans to have a drain plug.

I agree with you that the pan should be removed when doing an oil change, but it would be tempting to get a nice shiny new one for £18. A point to make is that other than removing crud from the magnet, changing transmission fluid is no different to changing engine oil, and we dont remove the pan to do that.

Cheers

John
