What lights are on when you just turn on your PC? (Not connected)

On my BT Voyager100 ADSL modem when not connected to net only Power and DSL lights are on,when switch off PC all lights off.

Thats the difference with cable and ASDL. I can set my computer up to turn on over the net via the modem because it is ALWAYS connected even when my computer is turned off in theory.

Intel Anypoint DSL modem has only one light - yellow when the pc has disconnected and it turns green when broadband connected. We click on a dialer ( I know it don't dial up) to make it connect or disconnect. The dialer has a username and password all the same. Also with BT they give you some utilities to check the operation and speed of the modem and broadband line and these are operational before they switch you on. In fact I kept trying before the programmed on date and found it working the day before.

MAC - if the data light flashing, it may be having problems connecting.

did that on my fujitsu adsl modem till i downloaded an upgrade

No Paul, the DSL light is not even on:(looks like I am not even getting a signal from the exchange:(

do you have the appropriate microfilters installed? You should have a filter on every phone plugged in, but NOT for the modem. If the filters are set up incorrectly then it could cause it to fail to connect.

my Microfilters have 2 sockets, 1 for phones & 1 for modems. should have 1 for every device AFAIK

OMG! It works 576kbps who fitted Greddy tubs on my phoneline:dance:

correct, but the modem will have a filter built in. The filters you have probably have a regular BT socket for the phone but a small RJ11 socket for the DSL, the modem is supplied with a regular Bt plug. Of course your milleage may vary but this is the case for all ADSL equipment ive seen in the UK.

nice 1 MAC. I remember when I first had mine activated, it seems amazing at first, after a while you get used to the speed and anything slower is painful to use. I had to use 56k the other day when my ADSL went out, and it was so slow I thought f**k it and went out to polish the zed :p
