My mate told me someone in Japan tuned a z to around 1000BHP and reached around 250mph, is he talking rubish?

Not sure - but at a guess yes - aerodynamics is the limiting factor not power. Somewhere I read (probably by mistake) that it takes a four fold increase in HP to go 20 miles an hour faster.

A million years ago (or so) a pal doubled the HP in his Manta using a Weslake rebuilt engine. It was still stuck to about 140MPH but boy did it get there quickly :)

Still holds the record for a front engine rear wheel drive car to this day!

We were talking to s Koyama when he was here in Cyprus for some tunning and that car is up for sale of course u'll need serious money to recondition it.Over there they build this cars for some runs maybe 1 sometimes and then they keep them in their garage. Ah don't forget the escort racing zx which does 7.4s in the 400m

It doesnt actually ;)

It still holds the record in its class. A Pontiac holds the front engine RWD record. But it had a 6 litre twin turbo engine or something.

...but do we know what they did to the record breaking zed to get it to go so fast?

and I guess it's not that much use for going to Tescos in?

 stock crank and valves apparently, everything else was changed though :D

Any car over 1000bhp, will have very little which is original. I can only think of 1 car which is over 1000bhp stock.
