OK, people. any helpful hints/tips/advice for the removal, disasembly and replacement/refurbishment of most of the Z engines major organs is reqd. Its going into a corner of my mates garage next week and wont see light untill i get it working properly again. Its prob gonna need a piston or two (oops) and while im at it its getting chipped, new crank and turbo seals and anything else which is reccomended by 3 or more people on here. So, shout up. what do i do to it? ;) :rolleyes:

 

P.S. even if you just post to take the :eek: out of a usless guy trying to fix a very technical engine, please do. I can use the laugh. just please, be gentle.....;)

Good on you for having a go mate , I'm in a similar situation I have a spare engine that I will soon start to rebuild and will just replace and upgrade anything I can within reason :)

I am lucky that I don't have any time constraints and that it is a spare engine . loads of useful info on TT.net if it helps

OK, you asked... LOL

 

Like most cars, if it's over the 60k mark then everything starts dying!

 

Have a look at the state of the water pump.

Have a look at the state of the det sensor and the harness for it.

Have a look at the state of the radiator.

Have a look at the state of the PCVs.

Have a look at the state of your viscous fan.

 

Not saying replace all these - but at least see if they look like they need it!

 

I think they're the nasties that are much easier with the engine out... everything else you can pretty much fix on the fly.

 

Dunno what kind of gearbox you've got and if there's anything you should do to either sort whilst you're at it...
