I just insured through Norton on a classic policy but the thing is they want a valuation for an agreed value. Does anyone have any suggestion how/where I can get this done?

Cheers

In theory if this was an official club, the club could do it.

Zclub may be able to do it.

Hello Stuart,

I'm not a member of the ZClub.

Vijay

May be worth joining them if they car value it.

It is the only official Nissan Z club I know of in this country. I knew some one who had to get an evaluation for him car when it was written off. He went to his club.

Failing that a Z secialist mechanic may be able to value it, or PPS.

Stuart

Norton told me I had to have the valuation done by Z Club.

When I told the guy I wanted to cover my car for £10K he laughed and said no way and that Z Club would never value it at that.

He said "you can buy a Z for 2 grand these days"

Tosser!

I paid £9K for it 4 years ago and I've spent about £10K on it since...

Doesn't seem like it's an agreed figure to me!

There are enough of them being trading at the moment to get a sensible valuation from Autotrader (forget eBay) as to a realistic replacement cost for a stock vehicle. You would need to detail the mods seperately - invoices can help to build the case here.

I had a look in practical classics and they value the TT at £3,200 - once I got the left ventricle going again I spotted that it was the ZX300 31 and not 32 ie.. pre 90 model. Phew.

Viijay,

Are you a member of the AA or RAC?

I'm sure they would have a car valuation service. They do just about everything else.

I should think you could find out something about it on there websites.

Justin:)

Hey guys! Pete Parmenter of the (http://www.zclub.net) is the evaluations officer of the club and if you are a member it is free TEL NO:01793 706456 hope this is of helpfull info for any one :)

The problem is mine is modded - bodywise and engine wise. If Chris got that sort of answer from the ZClub, then I would imagine I'd get the same. I would imagine AA/RAC would look at the market value but I'm pretty much in the same boat as Chris, bought it for a lot more and then spent some:rolleyes:

Vijay

Maybe it just goes to show there is a rift in the Z club. The original Z owners not liking the ZXs. ;)

I think it is still worth speeking to Pete Parmenter because he asked me to write a short note on all mods and the phisical condition of the car. I've got 1990 black manuel tt 2+2 import Additional extras: HKS turbo timer, HKS valve controler, HKS cats back exhaust system, Greddy boost gauge, Apexi blow of valves and 235/17front and 255/17 rear alloys more than enough mods for them to throw their monkeys out off the pram, but they didn't.;)

Sorry i forgot to say i'm a zclub member:dance:

did he give you a valuation on your car Deon?

Vijay

I am waiting as he said it takes usualy 1 week, but he was very helpfull and did not ask if i'm a zclub member he did say that he takes into consideration how mutch money one have spent. I'm also with Heritage classic car insurance and are paying £606 fully comp 5000miles resticted, but with the option of more anual miles how much are you paying

theyre all worth around 50p at the moment arent they?

somebody break some more zeds so they get rarer.

anyone told clarkson about the 300zx since he started his future classics wall on top gear?

Just give him a ring what have you got to lose 20p in a phone call ?i think it is all worth it

Hi Jeff,

Well they've sent me a form that has to be filled in and yours would go well with it. How much and how do I go abouts getting it?

Cheers

Vijay

vijay, John Dixon.

Quick reply on Jeff`s behalf (early call to the workshop) there are three options for this ranging from £20 to £60 ( will confirm this with Jeff)

The latter does include full hpi report as well, this may not be required in many cases and so the cost will be reduced, either way the vehicle needs to be booked in at the workshop for the evaluation.

More information can be posted here later.

You better be prepared for a fight in court if the Insurance company doesn't agree with your valuation.

As a matter on interest have you (ZedWorld) been approved by any on the insurance companies as a creditable source of valuations?

And before anyone thinking I'm having a pop, I'm not. I just think that there should be some regulation to this, otherwise any garage could print off a slip and say oh yes, it's worth £15K. Someone on here even suggested PPS, at the end of the day Peter is only a Paintshop!

Just to clarify, that response was from the guy at Norton not Z Club.

After lots of discussion over what I'd had done and how much I'd spent the guy started being very rude, told me the most they would be able to offer is about £5K and that's with a valuation from Z Club to confirm it's worth that and take it or leave it and basically piss off cos I don't give a shit.

Norton told me they insure for Z Club and Aston Martin owners club! I wonder if they tell the Aston guys that their classic car is only worth the scrap value?!

I never got as far as chasing Z Club for a valuation as my car has been off the road since.

Just seems stupid that I can't insure my car for what it's worth.

If I insured the Mona Lisa would they only give me the cash for canvas and paint when it got stolen? I just don't see why they just want to give you a stock replacement when that's not what you are insuring. It's not like I haven't told them all the work and mods I've had done and that the car is mint.

The term agreed valuation seems to be the figure that they agree to give you whether it's what your car is worth or not.

Chris.

Hi ChrisC,,have you tried "ADRIAN FLUX INSURANCE" ,,,I think the number is in " Jap Performance mag" and i have used them for my Ford pop with a 5.7litre chevy in it and my camaro and now my Z32, they may ask if your with a club , but there view is you will take care of your car if you have modifyed it and spent loads on it ,,try them ,,they may not be cheap ,,but you get what you pay , and they do instalments as well ,,,give it a go .....!
