I have been looking on the net for good Car importers. I have found 2 or 3 but then the searches repeat themselves and I cant find any more.

Does any one know of any?

That's always a good start ;)

I know one or two bad ones!

To expand slightly on what Fais said, IMO Newera are a sound and reliable company. Miguel certainly does know his stuff when it comes to Jap motors and he made sure that the buying and transportation process, when I imported my own car, went as smoothly as possible. One slight word of warning though: I found the British end of the operation a little lacking. They weren't very helpful over the phone, didn't seem to know much about the vehicles they were bringing over and...not to put too finer point on it...IMHO they couldnd't find their arse with both hands. However, this is only a small gripe and I wouldn't let it deter you from using this first rate importer.

Slight thread hi-jack....

I've bought a Japan Spec car which has been imported and registered in the UK, passed it's first MOT all orangised by the dealer/importer. I will be the first UK owner, when they have sorted out some niggles (next Monday due to commitmants on my side)

Now reading some of these threads about UK clocks, lights different wheels and tyres - how much will I have to do? Before it is legal in the UK?

On topic/thread - I think this dealer imports on spec. and not to order but they might (I can ask) and seemed to have a good choice of 40/50/60K mile motors.

If the car passed its MOT it is UK legal. Just make sure it has been registered with the DVLA first.

Cars over 10 years old dont need a SVA done.

I looked at Newera web site and the stock they have seems a little on the expensive side. But these may just because they are the cream-de-la cream of what they still have

Thanks for that Stuart.

Stuart what are you looking for i have direct access to most off the jap auctions. i also have an agent in Japan. just be very careful the good cars in Japan are not that cheep at the moment, so you will find that most of the cheep or good priced stuff coming here is low grade or damaged repaired.

all the best sid :D

someone on here put a post up a while back detailing a few aution sites in japan

Hi All,

I am importing my Zed through Bonsaicars. Its a 1990 TT manual with nice big 18's and an HKS can on it. Its grade 4 which for a car of this age is very good and has only done 44000 miles. The total price will be around the 5 garnd mark which to me seems expensive but maybe this is because it is a top notch car (I hope)!

So far the service has been OK. A little lacking in the communication department but until I have got the car and been through the whole process I do not really know how to rate them.

The best thing about Bonsaicars is they let you have access to all the Jap auction servers so you can browse up to 100,000 cars a week. All this means you can choose the car yourself rather than telling someone roughly what you are looking for and letting them do the rest and leaving you in the dark a bit more about what your are getting.

Another importer that I considered was a company called Autoadvan. They seem to flog a lot of cars through Ebay but are happy to source you any car you want.

Anyway, hope this helps and good luck,

Justin:)
