Had a bit of an incident today, started her up and slotted into drive, admittedly i did put it into drive a little quickly, before the engine had time to sort out the idle, but since then when I blip the throttle the revs drop about 400rpm then it revs, like its clearing its throat. I've also notice that it idles much higher, about 1500rpm. Any ideas anyone?

Cheers

That does seem like the temp sensor. do a search.

Here's a link to sort it out.

Hope the link works.

I had the same problem, I cleaned it up but still it sometimes returned, it was only resolved once I changed the sensor.

Geoff.

Cheers I will look at that - really appreciate the help guys

Most likely base idle adjustment requires adjusting.

Jeff @Zedworld

When I had this dip in revs on mine I was going through possibIlities 1 at a time. The temp sensor cured it for me. And then I actually made sure it was that as you hear of the fault so often, by reconnectng faulty sensor again and yes, dip in revs again. And did this a couple of times.

I'm not saying it isn't your base idle needing adjustment - just that I know for sure that a faulty temp sensor also produces these symptoms.

HTH.

Yes, a faulty temp sensor causes this. I've had a high base idle before and it didn't cause a dipped rpm.

Geoff.

I've have the same problem when blipping but not the idle. Have had ever since I've had the car - 3 years and still haven't found problem.
