Please excuse this post but i need to vent my anger ...

Some scrote(s) tried to break into my car over night. They didn't get very far because the alarm must have scared them off (I didn't hear anything) but left the usual trail of destruction ... :(

They tried to pry the lock with a screw driver - didn't work but ruined the lock. Then they tried to take the door handle off completely - didn't work either but ruined the rubber seal and left a lot of scratches/nicks in the paintwork. Then they tried to open the window by sticking their screwdriver between the targa top and the window. Didn't accomplish much there either except for paint damage to the targa top and the little metal guide that stick out has been damaged. I reckon this is what set the alarm off.

Why can't the scum of the earth leave other people's property alone?! Now I've got this damage and the previous vandalism damage to worry about ...

When I found out this morning I tried calling the police but they put me on "hold" three times, each time dropping the call after a few minutes. Then I walked down to my local police station (only up the road) to find that it doesn't open until 10am!

Not sure whether I'll claim this on the insurance as putting the damage right might be less expensive than having my premium hiked up! What do you guys think?

Also, can I get a replacement lock to fit my key? I don't fancy changing all the locks and ignition just for the one lock that was screwed up.

I got up this morning with a massive headache and my day is not getting any better ...

Sorry for the ranting but am thoroughly p*ssed off.

Sorry to hear about this mate. As for getting a lock to match your key, you can do it but think it is agg. If like most people you use the fob to open the car, it wouldnt seem worth it. Hope you get it sorted :)

 FFS! What a fkin sh1t. Sorry to hear this Danny.

As to whether to claim or not, I guess first thing is to get a quote to repair the damage and go from there.

I know AndyZ was selling targa's for something like £30, so that might be worth thinking about?

Hope you get it sorted as quickly and painlessly as poss bud.

Fookin little ****s.

Sorry to hear that Danny, What a pain in the butt.

We had some kids key 10 cars I a row down our road a few weeks ago. They for some reason left both the 300's but keyed the BMW big time :(.

Just a thought but if you don’t have much luck getting the lock sorted you could always put a 2nd hand lock in the passenger side and move the good lock from the passenger side to the drivers door (that's if it was the drivers door that got damaged), the locks are the same either side you just need to remove them from the housing.

It may be worth getting a quote from a local paint shop on how much the whole lot would cost to put right (including previous damage) then if it's a fair bit, claim for it.

Some one smashed my door lock about 2 years ago.

*******s

Sorry to hear about your breakin. Car thieves / scroats in general should be hung by the nackers - never allowed to breed and generally slapped around the head a few times. IMHO

Don't what ever you do phone the insurance company until you are ready to make a claim.

I phoned mine once after I ran over some paint on the road (figured a lower half respray maybe) but I was able to clear it with a proffessional vallet +£20 for him to turn the boost up on the spray gun.

My insurance co. wanted to increase my premium depsite there being no claim - they said an accident had occured so my bonus was hit.

They were probably busy dealing with all the speeding fines (aka Christmas party funds) - you know 35 in a 30 kinda thing from a hidden camera

OR letting a similar young car-damaging scrote off with a warning. :slap:

Sorry to hear this Danny but scrotes will be scrotes and unless the law gets tougher on them they will keep doing it and getting away with it, plus the poilce don't seem to be bothered unless they were to drive away speeding!

I really would love to get the hands on the scrotes that knicked Em's hard top.......I'd show the little scrotes justice......

I'm seriously thinking of getting my Z de-locked as it means there is less for potential thieves to have a go at, I use a fob like most to open the Z so it seems pointles having the locks on show (always have a back up fob with new battery in house!!)

Hope you get it sorted cheaply and quickly....

Matty.

Bloody shits as i say they should be spoon fed there *****cks.

Matty is right if your alarm its own central locking unit, get your doors delocked one less way of them getting in. Also think about securelux windows.

Fas

Little barstards want their sodding wot-nots chopping off!!!

Cant believe what the latest trend is with these break ins on lots of 1992 on "normal" cars they have deadlocks so the barsards are bending the doors open from the top.

Only one word for these people.....SCUM.

Thanks guys!

I've now had about 24 hours to contemplate about it all and calm down (NOT!) Spoken to the police again to see what their oppinion is about the scum returning for a second try and they seem the think here is a high likelyhood of that happening! :( They also told me that they are trying to break up an organised car thief ring operating in different areas of Birmingham who are targetting high end sports cars. Aparently two Mercs (SL 55 and a C36) have been nicked from their garages over the past week.

Anyway, I haven't phoned my insurance company yet and will hopefully get some time tomorrow to phone around to get some quotes for the repairs. Then I'm going to equip the car with a live wire to the door handles! (Only kidding ;) )

Cheers all!
