with all this talk of the "fastest" zed on here and a few of us throwing money at our prides and joys to achieve magical bhp figures are they actually achievable??

I have been looking at some of the old posts about andy's car k4sh's and a few others some with an amazing amount of mods done to them some without. Some people have dyno reports to prove they were putting out mega bhp out, some dont. Some of the US cars claim to have 6-700+ rwhp??

On the other hand there are some people here with mega specs and can only put out fairly modest BHP figures which must be so frustrating (adamr)

So my question is, is it actually possible if so what do you actually need to do it??

I'm only asking cos i dont know, i'm just buying what i think will take me there but will it??

I have spoken to several of the well known garages on here and some say no problem some say no chance :(

Hi Mike

my personal opinion is that anything is achievable but it has to be a balanced package for example you can get mega bhp with huge turbos but you need to change the cam profiles to take advantage of it. Its not a case of bolt on big turbos and away you go.

I think one of the most important things when you have built your engine is to get a custom map for the ECU to take advantage of it.

there are so many different opinions out there that it is mind boggling.

Its expensive but i think the only way you are going to achieve anything new is though trial and error. Look at me - im going down a route that SE thinks wont work and so far they have been impressed with the reults. Only time will tell if it will work, and to tell the truth i'm having fun playing.

Best of Luck - I hope you manage to create somethiing the UK hasnt seen before.

Regards,

Alex

Thing is with alot of those american Z's the figures are with nitrous. Also they tend to build them for drag racing.

Not much point having 700bhp on a road car if it's all from 8000-9000rpm.

Not much point having 500+ in the uk either unless you're happy to rebuild the thing every weekend and have exclusive access to a private test track!

:D

Mike,700+rwhp like some we have seen in the States=

How reliable is that figure?

Is is American HP?

How long did the car hold together for?

How many rebuilds has it had to achieve it?

Is the car still running?

Don't beleive all the crap you read on the net IMHO!

We all have our own opinions on this, mine is I just don't wear it:eek:

It's like the stock bottom end holding 600 hp:rolleyes: Again I dont wear that either!

If you used a BRAND NEW bottom end,you may be able to achieve it for a few thousand miles until you need another build

Again how many stock bottom end cars pushing 600bhp are out there?

How many miles have they done?

People read that we can do that to our cars with ease so lets all try it ehh:rofl:

I would love to see a car over here in the UK pushing 600bhp on a stock bottom end!

Cheers Mac, now you've cursed me!!

If SE do get my car running right I'll probably shatter my crank on the way home:eek:  :D

Sorry Adam my mistake, the crank is strong don't worry;)

It's the stock pistons I was on about:D

I think you should really ask yourself what you enjoy about driving your car?

Is it the responsiveness and driveability, or is it all out top end speed, or do you hate lag?

I don't think you can have a 600BHP car that is a driver friendly car to use!

I think 500BHP or so is about the limit for keeping driver firendly motoring!
