Having enjoyed trouble free motoring for the whole year it appears that the clutch plates require replacement in my auto box. assuming that the so called 'platinum warranty' doesn't cover any idea of cost and recommended repairer on the south coast (Southampton). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Im no mechanic, but I do not think an auto has a clutch!

I am sure they have a torque converter.

If you supply more info as to what the problems are or what symptoms you have, the people on here will give you most of the helpful suggestions open to you.

I had to get my auto rebuilt. Good luck

Arthur

Auto does have clutch packs, when they slip they need replacing;)

My gearbox is going into a gearbox specialist on Monday. My warranty will cover mechanical breakdown, assuming it's ony a replacement of the clutch plates anyone had this done and know likely cost....as opposed to recon the whole gearbox which is likely.

Thanks

Warranty companies being what they are, ie, thieving bars**ds, I would expect them to reject the claim agains worn/shot clutch plates as "fair wear and tear".

You need the gearbox company to "show" the warranty company some hard part, ie epicyclic gearbox, as broken. They would need to have a broken one from someones else box. If you get my drift.

As you called it, its a Breakdown Warranty, probably
