Where exactly are you supposed to jack these things using a trolley jack? On the visible lip on the bottom of the sill? (the outermost lip) Or somewhere further inboard?

 

I know, it's a stupid question! I don't even think about where to jack the Renault, I just 'know'.. But I haven't a clue on the Z...

I use the cars jack to lift it high enough to get a real jack under there. There is a small diagram on the jack to tell you where you should lift it from. There are (or at least should be if it is not destroyed by people putting the jack in the wrong place) a small cut out in the lip under the car. This is when I belive the cars jack should go. As for the proper jack I try to get it onto a suspention turret.

This is what I do. Prob not the best but it works.

Cheers Stuart - here's hoping I can find somewhere stable enough to get some axle stands under so that it don't fall on me 'eed.. Or I'll have one hell of a headache!

The manual shows jacking points on GI-22 & 23. I was going to make one of the little sill lifting pads that they show but haven't got around to it yet.

 

I also lift the car with the Nissan jack then get the trolley jobbie underneath.

Its the best way, use the nissan jack jack, j-j jack jer jack your body to lift it a few inches (i usually use the main box section running along the chassis, then wack a real off-your-trolley-jack under a suspension mount and lift it onto axle stands.

If it comes down upon your head your headache will be of the terminal variety

i just drive the motor on to a block of wood or a paving stone just to get that few inches and use the trolley jack under the engine bay.
