Brake Pedal click

Ok, I know it sounds weird, but when pressing on the brake, even gently, once you build up enough pressure (not stupid amounts) the I can feel the brake pedal click and it'll drop about 1cm.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Here's a clue - it most probably has something to do with me changing all the pads yesterday :D

Just trying to work out what I did wrong to sort it out tomorrow

Erm..............on the left caliper you only have one pad in cos a dog ran off with the other one and you didn't notice?

Isn't this the solinoid kicking in ?.

Lets have a quick play tomorrow night mate, I reckon it's when connector that tells the stop and tail sensor to supply poer to the brake lights.

nope and nope. You can feel it through the pedal and it sinks about a cm when it does so with no change in braking strength, it only happens during braking, not when starting to break.

hmm, will have a look tomorrow morning as I think one disk was showing wear in the middle only when washing her today, might be something to do with that.

Thanks Stu - if i don't get anywhere we'll have a quick look

they are quite as a mouse

could it be a sticking piston?

that would effect braking itself though I would have though. I spoke to Jaffa earlier and he said braking was actually improved since changing the pads.

Braking is so much better with these pads compared to the last lot. Just trying to work out what's causing the clicking.

Pretty sure I didn't have it before the change, and didn't have any difficulty pushing the pistons back during the pad change.

Is it worth me putting more copper grease on the back of the pads and shims??

Cheers

James

that will only stopp the brake squeel mate, the click has got to be something sticking or catching then releasing whether it's the pedal or the pads. It may be worth taking the lid of the brake res and pumping a few times.

Tried that, no difference :(

I'll probably take a wire brush to the shims and stuff make sure nothing's loose in there

If you think your discs are worn, it could be that the new pads are sort of catching the edge where the discs are not worn then as the pressure builds dropping into the rut that the other brake pads wore?

Just a thought
